If you consider an overall increase to your score to be an 'impact,' then yeah, it will impact your score. Increased available credit is NOT a bad thing and is costing you nothing since the MLife card has no annual fee. In fact, the increased available credit can help some enough to offset the seven or eight points that might have been 'lost' through the inquiry or the change in average age of accounts.

Certainly there are many who won't see a meaningful impact from the increased available simply because they are already responsible users of credit and are not revolving balances. However, they ARE also the same sort of people that recognize that you ALWAYS get credit when you DON'T need it since banks are not likely to approve a request when the reports make it obvious that someone is in fiscal distress...

Additionally, where there is no annual fee, the prudent consumer will get a card that they can derive some manner of benefit from, either directly through the rewards structure or indirectly through the various benefits associated WITH the card (such as status with the MLife card that allows the free parking).

You can always pay a day or so prior to the statement closing and that way you get the zero balance which reports (and would increase the score provided you leave one account with a balance of about two dollars).

Ok, live and learn. I had always been under the impression that having too much available credit going unused was a bad thing. I'm a pay-it-off-every-month guy, so it doesn't sound like it would hurt me.

It is for some people. The ratio of used to unused credit is one factor. The ratio of total credit to your income is another.

Having more unused credit is usually a positive.

Total credit to income has no factor in credit score, although I guess it could play a factor in a credit approval.

Some Vegas Resorts are Cutting Fees to Increase Visitation

https://www.travelpulse.com/news/hot...isitation.html

"Caesars Entertainment offered free parking at The Linq Hotel in August but didn't see any impact on visitation rates." Don't go overboard with these great promos now. lol

"As for travelers, Ohio resident Nino Bandera who has visited Vegas nearly 100 times in 50 years is skipping a trip to Sin City this year because of soaring resort fees and higher food prices."

“Enough,” he said of fees. “(It) breaks my heart, but we are going to drive to Tunica and give it a try.”

After a few days in Tunica they will be back on a plane to Vegas in no time.

OR maybe they will stick with the local casinos in Ohio so that plane to Vegas will be "no time" indeed.

Card will need some periodic activity showing...usually every three to four months is enough to avoid closure for non-use with most of the US-based issuers.

They've gone on record to say they've lost over 20 million dollars just by closing their golf course... and that's coming back now as well.

Why did they close it? The casino isn't big enough?

It sounds great that now the parking is "free" again but my gf works at the Wynn and said that they just recently raised resort fees again so that pretty much makes up for the "free" parking.

No offense to Nino, but he has to be 70+.

His perception of food prices is interesting. Has food pricing in Ohio not gone up in the last 50 years ? Las Vegas dining has always been relatively cheap, especially for old geezers (myself included.) It ain't Bob Evans of course, but there are good options, reasonably priced here.

Not sure his driving to Tunica is a good alternative plan.

I assume he means buffet prices and if he does, he ain't wrong. Buffet prices have seemingly doubled since I started going in 2005. There are also way fewer "$2.99 Steak and Eggs!" type deals. They never were any good in the first place, but they were there. So the perception was that cheap food could be had, even if it was an overcooked egg and a hockey puck.

The price of a buffet doubled in 14 years ..... imagine that. "

After 50 years (or 14 years) of coming here consistently, you could have piled up enough good will to eat for free...

If you actually gamble, stuff does get comped still.

Uh, what? Have you seen what pretty much every strip restaurant is charging these days?

"The one comp nearly all Las Vegas patrons received for decades was free parking. That began ending in the summer of 2016 when MGM Resorts – the owner of more Strip casinos than any other company – eliminated the perk. Caesars Entertainment soon followed, as did Wynn Resorts."

I didn't realize casinos were "comping" me Parking fees all these years. They also comp you restroom access, AC/Heating, and general access to the casino floor. So nice of them.

Come on Nino remembers a Vegas where casinos use to use food as a loss leader to get folks gambling in the casino. Clearly the mega resorts no longer follow this model and in fact from fine dining to a basic sandwich most of these places now charge a Vegas premium for food. Never been to Tunica but maybe they follow the old Vegas model, Ninos is going to find out if so.

Not "pretty much every strip restaurant" , but I've seen what the ones I patronize are charging. Try the dining threads if you want value tips on pretty much every restaurant.

or,

Start at Tacos El Gordo and work your way up...there are values at pretty much every level.

Yes, pretty much every strip restaurant. Even Starbucks is airport-priced on the strip. Nino ain’t going to Vegas to eat at Tacos el Gordo or hunt for value tips in between the cracks. He has recognized that you can’t eat a middling breakfast in a halfway decent hotel for less than $25/pp these days, a burger and fries might run $30, that steaks in the nice steakhouse are $80 when back home they’re half that. Etc. This is the sticker-shock that tourists get.
