No, hotel guests paying for parking is not standard at all. It happens, but to call it fairly standard is kind of stretching the truth. Plus the space that is available for parking on the Strip is not nearly as confined as the space some of those rare downtown hotels who do charge for parking have to deal with. So it is comparing apples and oranges. But keep apologizing for MGM, you are their target customer.

People in vegas are spending money at the casino so they shouldn't be charged for parking. When you go to a casino (besides the money you spend on a hotel) you're paying for rake, drinks, tips etc.

Different than simply going to a hotel in a city. At the least they could include the fee within the resort fee.

Why do you think it's different? People don't spend money at hotels in other cities?

The trouble is for the group of locals hanging in the thread. I've said it before as others have... paid parking is not some atrocious thing. It happens in all large cities. Move on and get over it/find the play level you need to get free parking, or don't.

The bottom line is when resort fees came about the same threads were written about boycotting, not vacationing in Vegas, etc, etc.. GUESS WHAT... resort fees are still in place

Actually all the anger and complaining has resulted in some significant changes. MGM backed down quite a bit by giving Pearl members free parking, giving poker players much easier ways to get free parking, and giving locals 6 free months. That's a significant change from their original position that only players with high status cards MIGHT get free parking.

If people just "moved on" or "quickly got over it" several months ago when the news came out, then what would stop them from charging $20, $30 or more?

too kind. they backed down quite a bit...

honestly i think they should do this for parking, then proceed to do the same for obvious things... like charging for drinks (at a discounted rate), and also charge for entrance to the bathrooms.

most casinos anywhere else outside of nevada usually charge for drinks anyhow.

I know guys! Let's make Vegas EXACTLY THE SAME as the casinos near everyone's home town! That'll make them want to travel 5 hours to get here and stay for a week!

How hard is it for a hotel guest to get to Pearl? Once they do, parking is free for them.

If I will avoid parking at Aria and Bellagio to ever get close to their 75-hour minimum tier upgrade, are Planet Hollywood and Caesars Palace the other main alternatives for 1/2?

Forgot to add that they are considering yearly parking passes starting in 2017. That's another attempt to calm down all the people who are complaining.

Well this would be a way to punish some of the guests who play at casinos that aren't with MGM. And it could encourage people to play at MGM properties more often.

CET is no longer the bastard child of BJ that they once were. Caesars Palace has 10 tables of $10-$1000 3/2 BJ as of about 3 weeks ago. Harrah's and Paris have $15 3/2 BJ.

Between idiots who play 6/5 BJ, and the other idiots who pay $1000 a bottle for cheap booze, we have too many customers. Heck, even if we charged $20 for parking annd paid even money on BJ, we'd still have too many customers.

Competition is for non-oligopolies.

just play there a lot. i mean, i had a really super old grey colored MGM card and the dealer was like... man... you've had this card since the 90s...

so he encouraged me to go up to the poker desk and ask them for a new card. on shift manager said i was upped to gold card. but when i asked about minimum hours, or requirements, he said it was black magic. (e.g. no one really knows).
