I'm gold tier now and it must be from just poker because I don't really gamble in the pit.

He said it's to try to help out the locals and the regs. You can't just come here for the summer and grind out 75 hours in a week and get free parking for the rest of your stay. But again he said this is all just word of mouth for now and nothing is set in stone. But it looks like this is what is going to happen, as it was explained to me.
So a spokesman for MGM is saying you have to be grandfathered in rather than allowing and encouraging people to work on earning future rewards for this year for this " perk ", and we are less than half way through the year?

They must have quite the collection of minds working together on how to proceed with this overall plan...

I think that what you miss is that the people who decide about the parking are not people who were likely to even consider that poker was an issue. To poker players poker is the center of the universe. To casino executives poker is a tiny tiny blip they barely notice. So the poker people at these casinos are scrambling to do something because it is important to them ... but they can't do it their own ... and the people they need to work through do not place a high priority on it.

so is the 75 for pearl and 150 for gold, from January 2016? Or from say April 2015?

From 2015, I have more than 150 hours but I'm still at sapphire.

From my understanding right now you don't get tier credits for poker. But when they start charging for parking they will tie in poker players who reached these hours in 2015. So you should be bumped up to Gold at this point in time.

Do you guys have all those hours at only one MGM property or at more than one? Maybe you don't automatically qualify for a higher status because your hours are at several properties and you need them to do it manually.

Yeah they don't care much about poker players. I was surprised that they were willing to do even this much. But I do see new faces all the time when I play so if the poker rooms stay busy, then plenty of tourists playing poker wil still be paying the parking fees.

I wonder if this also applies to tourists that gamble enough on the machines to get Pearl or higher. Maybe they would still have to pay parking fees for the rest of the year if they stay at MGM properties.

It's pretty random to just throw out a number of hours of poker to qualify for free parking if you aren't going to honor it moving forward tho. Tourists and locals alike, in general getting people into the casino is a win win for them and to just dismiss someone because they didn't get some random number of qualifying hours played prior to June 1 (especially when the general public has no idea they are even saying they will do this) is even more short sighted than the money grab these execs are pushing for to hit bonus numbers.

FWIW I already have enough hours so I'm not being petty about the stance they seem to be taking here for my own benefit, I just feel like they are already making a huge mistake here, and this just continues to compound it in my eyes.

Good point Steve00007. I have all my hours spread along all the MGM properties. I don't have 75 hours at one poker room.

Here's more info from my situation in case someone is trying to put all the pieces together.

- was pearl with mlife at some point.
- got downgraded to sapphire.
- played at MGM properties over summer 2015 as well as late November 2015.
- have not been back since.
- saw thread and logged into mlife.
- back up to pearl with no 2016 play.

That makes sense their tiers reset oct 1 so it's from your November play

Just one property for me - Bellagio but I never played any table games or slots. Poker only.

I got gold from playing only poker. I've been playing at Aria and Bellagio. So you do get tier points from playing poker.

Have you checked the mlife website? How many tier credits do you have on there from poker and how many do you need to reach platinum? I haven't seen a single tier credit added as a result of playing poker even though they updated my status.

I could see them giving you gold and not giving out any tier credits. If they are giving out tier credits to poker players, then why hasn't there been any talk about the number of hours we need to reach platinum? I thought the whole point of this was to make sure the locals and regs wouldn't be chased away.

Maybe if you play enough poker room supervisors hook you up on an individual basis. That would explain how you can reach the next status without getting any tier points. None of this makes any sense though.

I wouldn't expect any higher levels to be awarded just for playing poker. I think they are just trying to give regs free parking, not anything else special.

MGM has their quarterly earnings report tomorrow. It's possible they might hash more more specifics then. (Or maybe they'll just delay it again)

Sounds like the parking fees might be pushed back to June 13. This should be interesting.

What I find strange is this parking roll out seems very unorganized even among resorts. Aria makes it clearly obvious, parking payment is coming. Signs like "did you pay for parking" signs are all in the garage. While some "resorts" have some signs like Excalibur or NYNY where the physical stations are set up. Then there are some "resorts like Mandalay Bay or Mirage, (I didn't see any, could have missed it) but were zero indications of paid parking.

How is Vdara going to work, there is no self parking.

And with Mirage, just park at Treasure Island.

It appears only the casinos closest to the arena will be ready to charge for parking by June 1st. I am not sure if they will just charge at those places at first but I was told that at Mirage won't be ready until Q4 in September. Also, they still plan to not charge locals for the first 6 months and the 75/150 hour requirements for status upgrades will be reviewed each month as to not piss off the regs so they continue playing at mgm properties with free parking.

Today when I got to Bellagio, the entrance to self parking was temporarily closed for work being done; presumably work related to parking charges coming soon.

Is it anywhere said definitively about free parking for locals for 6 months?

When I parked at Mandalay Bay last week there were clearly clues that the parking fees were coming because they were clearly getting ready to set some of that stuff up.

Sounds pretty normal to me. Each hotel in a sense separately run organization.
