Article guesses $20. Not sure if that would be $20 per visit, per day, or every time you park if you are a hotel guest.

I could see this impacting the car rental companies if the cost is too steep.

why?

because they can.

MgM has been a horrendous location to park most of the time. it's always packed and lots of folks use it to park en mass then leave the property.

They should fence off the strip and charge $50 to get in.

I hate parking at MGM Grand but almost never have a problem parking at Aria or Bellagio.

They should start charging people who use the toilet.

It will be $20 a day to park + a $4.95 parking resort fee.

Parking resort fee includes 2 painted white lines on either side of your vehicle, a curb or wall to protect your vehicle from pulling in too far forward, complimentary use of your choice of elevators or stairs to access the casino, complimentary trash cans available at each level, painted numerical indicators on the walls to remind you which level you parked on and unlimited complimentary parking structure lighting after daylight hours.

I'm not sold that article is accurate. I could see charging for parking on special event nights like they have done for fights. I don't see them charging people that gamble, dine or go to nightclubs at their casino to park. Hotel guests surely would get it included in resort fee. Conventions won't permit it.

That leaves locals using it to go to an nhl game, if this even happens at all.

This would include all the MGM properties, Excalibur, NyNy which has the most accessible parking garage, MGM, Aria, Bellagio, Mirage etc. Gotta thing this would kill locals from coming to the strip.

At the Horseshoe in Cleveland they require you to earn 15 Tier Credits at slots or table games, or 1 hour of poker play for free parking. Without meeting the play requirements you have to pay for parking. Unless you are staying at a hotel in which case parking is validated. I wonder if MGM is going to implement something similar.

The articles implies every visit. So that if you're at MGM or Aria and feel like bopping over to Venetian in your car for some Bouchon, be ready to cough up another twenty when you return. They want to make you eat MGM/Aria food, and everything else, rather than leave for any reason.

Soon afterward, valet parking will cost, because people will go to valet instead of paying for self-park.

The idea of going to Vegas is much less appealing.

AC requires you to pay for parking regardless and has really high room rates. Oh yea they're almost out of business.

In a.c. its a city ordinance. No free parking. Regadless of what Parker Brothers say.

Their hotel room rates aren't the problem in Atlantic City. They were at a 92% occupancy rate. Their issues have nothing to do with the hotel rates, but that is a another topic and not really relevant to this one i suppose.

Yup it's almost half the properties on the Strip that would start charging. And I wouldn't be surprised to see Caesars follow that lead and do the same thing which would make almost every property on the Strip do this. I wish they would at least let locals park for free.

MGM must be hurting because this move if true is risky. This would affect locals but more importantly weekenders coming from CA and AZ.

i can't see this as possibly being +EV for the casinos but maybe they know something i don't. pit games and slots are so +EV for them it should probably be the other way around--pay the parkers $20 just for stopping by.

This is very true, atleast for me being in Arizona. I used to come multiple times a month. Now with resort fees, almost extinct 3/2 BJ at $5,$10,$15 etc, and now with this crap (if true), and among other things.. Just seeing less and less reasons to come out. Guess I'll just make an annual wsop trip and leave it at that
