This.

But unfortunately it's not destined to be. As I understand it, the Wynn intends to remove plexiglass at its tables, which almost certainly portends the return of 9 handed games and 9-10 handed MTT tables.

It doesn't just make sense, it's pretty well measured. There are certain cognitive functions that improve into the 70s (e.g. vocabulary) but most peak in the 20s.

I expect plexiglass will go away for poker, but nothing specificslly re poker in the news:

It does say "all table games".

Wynn is going 100% because 88% of their employees are vaccinated. I don't know what it means for other casinos. Wynn ran its own vaccination site for its employess, and required them to either get vaccinated or pay to get tested once a week. I don't think the other casinos are being so aggressive with covid and will get enough employees vaccinated to satisfy the gaming commission.

With 80% of their employees being vaccinated, Cosmo is also back to 100%. They had a program where employees got bonuses if they were vaccinated by 5/1 (which they extended to 5/8 as they had a good response and wanted to give employees extra time to get a shot).

I know it doesn't mean anything for plexiglass with regards to poker, but no plexiglass and distancing in general is a good thing.

Plexiglass is being removed from the Wynn poker tables today.

So it looks the casinos have to get to 80% vaccinated to go 100% and pull the plexiglass. The ones I wanna know about are Southpoint and Orleans.

Here in Dallas we've been playing 9 handed since our room opened in October. I'm just hoping they never go to 10 handed as they originally planned.

How about masks? In the West Texas clubs they have been optional since Oct.

I'd guess less than 25% were masked in Oct. Prob less than 5% now.

Most streamed games from Austin Ive seen it looks like masks are mandatory..

I'd also like to know how strict they are with masks compared to last summer. I was in vegas July 2020 and they were so strict it was near impossible to have a conversation at the table. I would pull my mask down to take a drink and say something but that would get me warnings but I think nevada had undercover safety inspectors so it was understandable.

Everywhere I went last month as long as you had food on the table toy were fine without a mask.

Agreed. Dealers I spoke to in Vegas last month had this sentiment also.

I was there for 10 days last month, the mask enforcement is all over the place and varies widely by property. I spent 4 straight days hanging out at the VP bar in Park MGM with my mask off, and in my pocket, and was left alone. Then, on the 5th day, a security guard came up to me and told me to put it on in between sips, or leave.

In restaurants, you're good to go once you're seated, you can take it totally off and leave it off.

Other properties, like Caesars, were super hardcore with mask enforcement by bartenders.

Some of the strongest mask enforcement was at the poker tables (particularly in Bellagio where I put most of my hours). There, a dealer would call for the floor if your mask slipped below your nose for more than a few seconds. Didn't see anyone get kicked out for mask compliance, but did see a few "final warnings".

They will all prolly go back to 9 handed. They want to maximize rake per table and dealer.

Time games make more money with more people at the table. Raked games, not necessarily. Dealers are probably doing better with 8 handed games.

I don't know. More multiway flops and bigger pots with more players. They don't care about how dealers do they care about profit. I really doubt anyone will stay 8 handed.

Do you really think recs prefer 9/10 to 8? I would figure 8 max = more action which is what the recs want, no?

It just doesn't take much action to max out the rake. Everything in the hand after that may be good for the game and good for the players, but it doesn't help the house profits.

After a certain point, more multiway flops and bigger pots with more players will translate to fewer hands per hour and less rake per hour.

Businesses here are in a damned if you do, damned if you don't spot. If a grocery doesn't require masks a large portion of their customers will boycott the store. However, if they require masks a large portion of their customers will boycott their store.

Masks were required at TCH from the start but they became more strict starting around Thanksgiving as players complained. I think being strict was appropriate in the midst of a pandemic, but now that there are multiple easily accessible vaccines I'm hoping they get rid of the mask requirement.

In my experience the Hideaway poker room was not strict at all about masks. Also, it appears masks were not required at most underground games in Dallas.

Recs are dumb. I've been at 6 and 7 handed tables where the recs want to break. Many of them think more players = more action. They have no clue that their loose style is more better suited for short handed games.
