First drink!

Was starving and grabbed chipotle for a quick dinner. Hopefully the vodka soda helps calm the stomach and then we can switch to whiskey.

TY!

Already got into a 5 minute conversation about why I’m dressed up. Bro in his tank top couldn’t imagine I would wear it just to play cards.

Points for anyone to help me come up with a good lie. I’m also wearing a wedding band so can’t include adultery.

First AA! 2/5 and I’ve chipped up the last few hours. Station in MP limps, loose Asian in SB limps. I raise to $30 in BB both call. SB is main V and ~$650 effective.

Flop ($90) 5h 7 Jh
Checks, I bet $55, MP folds, SB raises to $115. I consider a reraise but jam seems like too much and stacks are a little awkward. I call.

Turn ($320) Qx. I check, he checks.

River Kh. I check, he considers and checks behind. (I had called him earlier with second pair pocket 6’s on a A5xxx board so he might know I’m stickier than normal.)

MHIG. Pretty bad run out but I’ll take the win all day long.

Uhm, isn’t a wedding band metaphorically required for adultery?

Tell them you are campaigning for some obscure public office, like commissioner of soil and water conversation district.

AA again! Folds around to my $20 open. Very soft passive table

2/5 table got worse and worse. Took my $300 in winnings and moved to 1/2 PLO which is a 1/2 woth a $5 bring in or $10 straddle. Game seems tame for now. Won my first hand!

God this 1/2 5 bring in PLO game is like the 1/2 NLHE equivalent where I’m from. Lots of limp checking from obvious OMC types.

Just realized I never posted this.

Addendum:
Doubled up! AcKcQQ. Button straddle and 2 limpers and I pot. Button calls and maybe one more. (OMCs get a little grumpy because of my pot preflop.) flop 4c3c4x. I bet out $125 and button (WSOP jacket and all) puts me all in. ($600 effective at the start) I snap call.
Turn 8c. River Kx. MHIG.

And sorry for the bad formatting. I guess these ‘scam’ vodka Red Bull’s sort of add up.

Day/Night 1 recap:
Traveled well and got to the tables as fast as possible. Picked Venetian because it was the closest (to Harrah’s) with minimal wait time.

Sat right away at 1/3 but only played a single orbit before moving to 2/5. I like the bigger caps here and the super nice poker room. 2/5 game was super soft and passive. Didn’t really have any big pots to speak of and I think I was 0 for 3 with KK which always annoys me. For a Friday night during the WSOP there wasn’t really any ‘fun’ tables that I noticed walking around.

1/2-5 PLO was strangely nitty and OMC filled. I loved the buy in ($500) and $5 bring in but no one was drinking and only 2 guys next to me were even remotely nice or chatty. I talked up one of the dealers for a minute about their 5/10 NLHE and she seemed to think it was not soft and you need to bring your A game. Might look into that one at some point.

So last orbit at PLO I’m in the 9 seat and pot preflop with AAh3h3. 4 to the flop and it’s 578ccc or something. SB bets out and seat 7 folds. I fan my hand so seat 8 can see (he wasn’t in the hand at all and relatively nice and talkative) as I muck and the 2 seat goes off and starts berating the dealer. Says he needs to control the game and I’m showing everyone my cards. Dealer essentially tells the guy ‘I didn’t see him do it so it couldn’t have been that bad.’ They go back and forth and I try and diffuse and apologize and tell him I’m racking up anyways. I never understand why you would berate the guy dressed up and ordering double vodkas as fast as he can get them.

I really hate the food sticker shock here. Had a late night drunky burger/fries in Harrah’s and it was $18. And bottle of water from the vending machine is $3. So annoying. But overall can’t complain with booking a winning session out of the gate! Now I just have to figure out how to sleep past 6am...

Oh yeah, forgot I flopped quad queens in PLO. Limped with an ugly QQxx and go 4 or 5 way to the flop. Checks through to the river and I finally make a bet and get called in 1 spot!

I think it's cool to dress up. I probably wouldn't go total formal suit at the poker table but it's better than a shabby tshirt

Ohhhhhh.... POKER action. Thought we were going in a different direction there.

Morning Bellagio session. Chipped up some and got into an annoying spot just now.

Very passive table. Folds around too often.

Open K10hh to $20 in EP. Short stack makes it $55 ($145 more behind), SB cold calls ($350 behind).

Groan call. Flop ($165) 9h 8h 6x
SB checks I check shorty shoves, SB folds. Groan call the $150. His AA holds. GG

Anyone else think 99 and 1010 are just worlds different? Just got 99 in BB and a few limpers. Just mentally think it’s an auto check 90% of the time. However, get 1010 and it’s like an auto raise 90% of the time. It’s the same hand!!

Thin value shove or just call?

Raise AA to $25 utg and only BB calls. 30s WG.

Flop ($50) Kc J 5c
He checks I bet 40, calls.

Turn ($140) Qx
He checks and I check.

River 5x. He bets $110 with $200 behind

Anyone shove here?

OMG this table is awesome. All your standard characters:
Buff young white guy who’s music is so loud he can’t even sense the waitress who is delivering his water (obv)
Young Euro guys
Young Asian guy with a black surgical mask
Euro Nit who hasn’t played a hand in 2 hours

50’s white guy with lots of expensive jewelry. -Side note. I thought he was the most touristy of the group but he joked around with the dealer to tip off he’s a reg as well. I actually joked out loud to him that ‘I have a feeling you all know each other.’ He just gave a coy smirk and sarcastically replied ‘What gives you that idea??’

ZERO talking
Water/tea/coffee ONLY [I heard one of them go full chub when I ordered a double whiskey]
Probably say cool things to each other like ‘mad GTO’ and ‘roflshove’ [prnounced roffle-shove]
Two of them got table changes at the same time. God I hope someone seat changes to my left!!

And to add insult to injury, the dealer gave me the wrong change when i bought it. Thy don’t use $5 chips and I had no idea. So I’m sitting with a stack of reds and no one else has any. Felt like I was that guy who buys in for all whites at a 1/2 NL game.

Ok I can’t tell if I need to sober up or get wasted.

Alright what would you do:

$1400 effective. Main V is MAWG who plays straight forward for the most part. Has hero called a big bet from the young loose guy who bricked his flush draw.

MP raises to 20 and next to act raises to $50, main V cold calls 50 in the cut off.

Your play with QQ in SB?

No, just calling. Doubtful he is donking with only flopped 2P here.
