I alluded to this in my last TR, but I'm a big fan of watches and showcased my Rolex Day-Date along with some other never-going-to-happen wish list items. Hopefully we'll get to try on some of these at the boutiques and get to take some cool pictures.
But since that trip I had an interesting thing happen. I started to get unhappy with the Rolex. It's a great watch and the back story was I inherited it from my grandfather, but it really began to lose it's appeal for me. Maybe it's too gaudy or maybe I'm going through a late 30's crisis, but I started asking around and ended up selling it. (Side note: Yes I sold the watch I inherited from my grandfather. Technically he didn't give it to me and I asked my dad for it once he passed away. We weren't terribly close and he was mostly an alcoholic ******* so it had less sentimental value than you might think.)
Anyways, all that to say I went on a new watch hunt and surprised myself with what I bought. Panerai 797. I would've never thought that I would ever be attracted to a Panerai, but something clicked with me about it in the complete opposite way as the Rolex. Unique design, more casual, under the radar, and customizable (lots of strap offerings). I was smitten and finally pulled the trigger.
And like a watch diva, I am bringing both straps! Rubber is super comfortable and great for the pool and swamp wrists in the Vegas heat. Suede for classing it up a little. (As much as you can class up this tool watch.)
