The only saving grace there was playing during times of big conventions at the MB convention center. But, the loooong stretches in between great games there made it problematic to find them. It certainly wasn't worth making it a regular haunt so that you catch the inevitable great game every Friday or whatever.

Also, hi

Those favoring the Mirage over MB don’t worry. Mirage to reopen Aug. 27.

Where did you see that?

Probably a misread of the message on their Bravo.

The first line on their Bravo page says, "We are pleased to announce that the Mirage Resort and Casino will be reopening on Thursday, August 27th."

BUT -- this message is about the MIRAGE itself re-opening from August of 2020, not a reopening of the Mirage poker room. Nobody has touched the bravo page all year. They probably laid off whomever was actually updating that page.

Especially considering August 27th this year is on a Friday.

I agree.

Wouldn't be terrible if it was a center Strip room where you can just walk to the next one if games are bad. But if you're at the MB poker room, that's probably 30+ minutes to get to another poker room. No matter if you walk, drive your own car or use Uber.

You could call ahead and ask, if you are driving in. Also, something like Bravo can provide a clue.

But it was almost always just $1/$2 , rarely higher
I feel the same way. Seems like locals and regs hate the room so I always suspected it had a higher percentage of soft games. The high hand promos added some money to the tables. But it was still almost all just 1-2 NL. The 1-3 game allowed a $1k max buy-in but it almost never ran.

MB was always a low stakes room, unless some players brought their own games over .... once in a blue moon.

Typically, but rarely run, the highest limit was $2-5.

Nice physical layout, pretty good dealers, good foot traffic going by.

Did it open ? What hours, the signage I recall from walking by had Thurs - Monday hours perhaps. (I am not in town to check personally, but will return by month end, just curious.)

From the website ....

"Thursday – Monday: 3:00 PM – 11:00 PM
Tuesday/Wednesday: Closed

Please Visit or Call Poker Room for Details"

Thanks, not bad for them on a Friday afternoon.

What the venue does have going for it is a couple of decent dining options ..... well at least one I guess, RiRa Other plusses are high ceilings, open floorplan, sports book with large screens,

Did the poker room see an uptick in traffic during the first Raiders preseason game? I forgot to check Bravo.

anybody remember 10+ years ago when the ONLY game they had was 2/4 nl 200 dollars max (i think 200 was the min also) and they had wooden racks.that game was awesome once you could build a stack.

Was there last week. Still wooden racks. $1/$2nl only one table, maybe a 2nd table gets going for a few hours during prime time Fri / Sat. The room is keeping the same hours of 3pm - 11pm.

Ya'll are debating why MGM chose to open the MB room over others, but I see it as a no-brainer with football season. It's right next to a huge sportsbook and right by the exit to the stadium walkway or inversely the entrance to MB from Allegiant. Games should be especially fun during Raiders home game weekends. The high hand promotions aren't spectacular, but it's just fun $1/$2 with only one or two grinders--and even then it's $1/$2.

I'd recommend it if you're staying at Four Seasons, MB / Delano, Luxor, Excalibur looking to just play $1/$2, bet some sports, have some drinks.

If I were MGM I'd be looking to open a poker room every time Caesars closed one, and basically corner the poker business on the Strip.

Is this room seriously closing at 11pm? I get closing the room during quiet hours but 11pm is literally peak poker time and they are shooing people away from an active game at 11pm on Friday and Saturday nights?

I guarantee you this is because some executive figured that no one is going to bed at 11pm so they will take their money and roll on over to a table game or slot.

I'm waiting for the first casino to install small slot machines at every poker seat at the table. No joke, but why not give players the option to spin some slots while they wait for their action at the table.

While it would be annoying to have the action slowed down due to people being distracted by their slots, I would love to have people at the table who are degens to that sort of level. I'm sure while slower, the games would be better.

They only have 4 dealers working for them, so they can’t stay open longer than 8hrs and 5 days per week. They also can only have 3 tables running at the same time because of this. This will change once they hire more dealers.

That's a good idea, make it video poker or blackjack.
