How many entrants in the tourney?

Day 1 in the books. Nice update. I know you mentioned that you would sprinkle in tournaments here and there but (and I could be wrong) it seems that if your goal is to just make money, you should stick with cash games to build up your roll.

You are playing $1/2nl? How much is your roll? Can you plan $2/5nl or are you too short for that right now? What's you current goal/target to hit?

For future updates, it would be cool if you provided a summary at the bottom of your final win/loss and how many hours of cash games you put in. For the sake of this thread, it would be interesting to see how many road hours you put into the commute as well.

Tournaments are gonna be fewer and farther between for sure but I do plan on taking a shot at a couple. I’ll update in here as to what I wind up playing. I have my roll broken up in to 2 5k parts basically. This first half is more open meaning 1-2 or certain 2-5 games and a couple tournaments. If I bust down to the second half it’s strictly 1-2, pick up a part time job or start on the real estate license. If I can clear $400 a week then I’m where I need to be with my current additional income. I would like to obviously make more than that but that’s baseline right now to keep from having to pick up additional work.

Thank you for the tips on the update posts and I will start doing that for sure. First BR is currently at $4900 after yesterday’s adventure. Had stuff to do today with the wife but tomorrow I plan on logging some solid hours. The 2-5 I keep mentioning is actually a couple of pretty soft games in Laughlin which is a little closer to me than Vegas. The crowd is older and it plays a lot like an active 1-2 game in Vegas so that’s something I might do from time to time.

And consider a more liberal use of paragraphs. Dividing that into three paragraphs: (1) Tourney ("Well not a great day..."); (2) Cash ("Headed to the Venetian..."); and (3) Summary ("All in all not a great day...") would make it much easier to read. Keep posting and definitely keep stats.

Finished 34th. Started getting low on BBs and shoved AJ suited and A10o hit broadway on the river. Cashed for $800 which sucks but is better than a loss. On to the next one!

First decent hand I see is 9♦️9♠️ on the button with blinds of 300-600 and my stack is 17k. 2 limpers to me I make it 1900 to go get one call out of the SB who has been pretty quiet. Flop is K♣️ J♦️ 6♣️ and he checks. I bet 2000 and he raises to 5200. I fold. I then get K♣️K♠️ UTG. 400-800 blinds and my stack is 15.9k. I raise to 3.2 and get 2 callers. A♥️9♥️J♣️ flop. I check and fold to an All In bet out of MP and a Call from the CO. Shows down AJ>AQ. Blinds at 500-1000, stack is 12.3k and I pick up K♥️K♠️ in MP. UTG limps and I jam. A♠️Q♣️ calls out of the SB and flops an A and I never improved. Headed to the Venetian to meet a buddy and play 1/2 as there was still an hour wait for 1/3. Sat down with $300 and the table appears to be pretty active. This is just what I needed! First hour I don’t see anything other than 93o and K2o it seems hahahah. Pick up J♠️J♣️ in MP and UTG opens for $12. UTG has been playing pretty loose so I make it $35. Folds to the button who shoves for $106 and it folds back around to me. I call and he shows 10♦️10♠️ and flops a 10 and I never improve. Stay unbelievably card dead and a lot of A/x in terrible position or already raised pots. Pick up 6♣️6♥️ in the SB. UTG+1 makes it $12 and gets 4 callers. I call the $10 and we go to the flop 6 handed. Flop is 6♠️Q♠️9♥️. Raiser checks, I bet $50 and CO jams for another $75. It folds to me and I call. Turn card is the 9♠️ and J♦️ on the river. I show my full house and he mucks. Card dead for another couple hours, table changes and becomes super tight so I leave. All in all not a great day but it could have been a lot worse. Very card dead and then in bad spots when I did have a semi-playable hand. Made $140 back at the cash table and wound up stuck $100 for the day. I did however come to the conclusion that I prefer and am most comfortable at the Venetian. It’s where I’ve played the most since I’ve been living out here. Free parking is also a big plus! On to the next one though. Tomorrow is a new day!
Regarding your comment about parking, see the link below. If you sign up for the MLife credit card, you`ll get free parking at MGM hotels.

Playing full time but only 2 posts about playing, in the last 10 days. Did you give up on this project?

Was this the shortest pro career on record? Bankroll busted in less than a week.

Hahahah I love all the responses cause I haven’t been on here in a little bit. Bankroll is not busted I actually have been busy with some projects other than poker. Played a few tournaments and didn’t have much luck. Min cashed in one and then rode the variance trainthe rest of the time. Cash games however have been good. I’ve recouped all but 2 tournament buyins and have had consistently better results there so that’s what I’m gonna focus on when I start playing more again. That being said this is getting put on hold until November when my wife and I move to Vegas proper. She has a couple job opportunities lined up and my work can go anywhere so we’re both very excited. Until then I’ll pop back in and give updates when I actually go play. Cheers!
