Hi Lads.

I notice when I log into M-Life it says I am Pearl member despite never getting close to 25k tier points (I go to vegas maximum once a year and some years dont even bother using my Mlife card) -

I havnt been to Vegas in 2 years.

Anyway, just booked 8 nights in Vdara and got 4 complimentary nights, total came to $600 (Including resort fee)

My question is, is this an error in my favour or is everyone Pearl or above?

Only logged into my Mlife to see if the card was still valid, was about to book 8 nights for $2000 before noticing the offer

I used to stay at Bellagio but haven’t stayed at an MGM property in 7-8 years and have only gambled a few times at the B and Aria in that time. I just checked mine and I’m Sapphire with 25k credits to go to get to Pearl so I assume I’m at the bottom.

If you linked your Hyatt and Mlife accounts you may be getting status via Hyatt.

I have Mlife credit card and it gives me Pearl status automatically.
I only have like 12000 points.

Maybe you left your card in a machine and someone took it thinking it was their own?

This actually happened to me a few years ago. I played a few hours of video poker at Harrahs Las Vegas then logged into my Total Rewards account a few weeks later and realized I reached the 2nd tier and had a good amount of reward credits. I found out I had recent gambling activity at a property I had never been to, so someone must have taken a copy of my card home with them.

Nope. I check my win/loss on MGM site:

2019 - $0 in / $0 out
2018 - $0 in / $0 out
2017 - $11,480 in / $15,000 out
2016 - $0 in / $0 out
2015 - $1900 in / $1880 out
2014 - $2900 in / $2400 out

Based on that I am an almost none existent player

Is it possible for Pitt Bosses to bump you for no reason?

2 years ago in Vdara, I was chatting away with a pitt boss most morning when casino was empty (Jet lag) playing Ultimate holdem - Seemed to get on really well with him.

Other than that, no idea

I've always been at Pearl and I rarely gamble. When I do, it's not near enough to reach Pearl on my own.

I have been as high as gold in the past (mostly from one night of drunken pai gow playing $200+ a hand for like 8 -10 hours), but am now sapphire due to not staying at MGM properties over the last few years and mostly staying/playing at Wynn/Venetian (comped rooms through friends) other than poker.

However, they have recently been sending me offers for free rooms after not showing anything other than at the low end resorts for the past year or so. Maybe they are reaching out to somewhat dormant accounts that have shown some gamble at times in the past.

Spend in the lodging categories ALSO count towards status...I don't remember how it plays out, but I had enough last year between tournament entries and lodging that I managed to hit Gold just prior to the end of September. I had already gotten Pearl through the MLife credit card and so some of the spend on THAT had also contributed to the move, but I never figured it would have added up to hit the Gold threshold.

Since you (OP) have indicated you didn't have the MLife CC and were not gambling much, what was your general spend on lodging at MGM properties? That is the only other thing that would make sense since I doubt they were doing random bumps..

I'd guess this. We were pretty frequent (2-3x a year) stayers at the Bellagio, then about 3 years ago for no particular reason migrated north to the Wynn, with occasional trips to the TI when we felt like slumming it a little. After a year and a half of no offers from Mlife we've gotten several for comped rooms + a little free play over the last few weeks. (We still had played enough at the Mirage/Bellagio on bar crawls to keep our Pearl status, though.)

Have stayed in MGM properties 4 times.... 1 week, 1 week, 2 weeks, 2 weeks

So maybe that something to do with it?

Either way I am chuffed at 8 nights in Vdara in July for under $700 (That includes resort fee!)

I gained Pearl in 2015 and it stayed that way until January of this year, I was kinda shocked myself but I still get Mlife offers like crazy even thought I haven't been to Vegas since. Maybe you just slipped through the system or something like I assumed I did

While I have always been pearl with little play, so far this year I have noticed that my discount offers on the mlife website has decreased dramatically. I have gotten a few emails with offers that don’t show up online though. It’s just kind of weird because for the first time I can notice the difference.

4 free nights and discount on the other 4 is seriously generous. Turned our thoughts of "shall we do Vegas this year" to "When shall we book for"

Another reason why resort fees should be toast. We will likely drop $10k in the 8 days we are there...

75 hours of poker in a year gets you Pearl status. Seems doubtful it would get you anything else besides poker room comps though.

You can definitely earn enough tier credits to get Pearl if you stay in their rooms, but I thought you had to ask about that if you want to get those tier credits. When I would spend money on food I always had to get my M Life card out and ask for them.
