I entered a few Rio's $175 WSOP satellites trying to qualify for tomorrow's NL $1500 event without too much success. I chopped for second in one satellite, and am now the proud owner of 1 $500 WSOP tournament chip. After I'd decided to call it a day, I wandered around for a bit asking people if they wanted to buy it, but didn't have much luck.

What should I be doing here? Should I be asking for face value for it, or would somebody usually want a discount? Anybody here want to take it off my hands

sure you should be asking for face value, but unless you meet a stone idiot, you won't get face value. i bet $480 would be a really really good price for you to get.

I don't see why you'd need to be a US citizen.

Go stand outside the Tourny Registration area. You should be able to exchange it for face value pretty quickly.

Not just for playing online, would be nice to keep up with what is happening aswell.

I would just prefer not to bring my laptop with me if I can rent one in Vegas.

Thanks again for the help DoGGz!

re the laptop, basic laptops are crazily cheap now. They were selling a brand name laptop (Toshiba or something) for $499 in Walmart (Vegas). Buy one of those, use it for a month, then sell it on as nearly new for $350-$400 on ebay. I'm pretty certain it will work out cheaper and more convenient than hiring a laptop.

I scanned this thread and I didn't quite get the answer I'm looking for, I'm looking to bring around 5k or so for a bankroll for playing some tourneys and some side games, but I am sorta a lifenit, so I don't really want to bring cash, I also don't really want to mess with a bank wire, what is my next best option?
I have thought about Cashier's checks, Traveler's checks, etc. But I'm not sure what the best option would be, if anybody could help me out with this I would greatly appreciate it.

Cheers!
John

Hypothetical question: Can i leave any $$$ amount in Bellaio or Rio for the next year?

Like, for example: I have a 100k score in some tournament. I want to leave them at (the poker room? the casino? the hotel? how does it work?) Rio or Bellagio to have a bankroll for when i come there next year.

Bwd,

are you american? if so, can't you just take it over to a bank in lv and put it in a cd or something? if not, then just pay for a box for 12 months and you should be able to leave it.

Open a bank account? Bellagio has boxes but you won't be able to get one.

Why wouldn't i be able to get one?
Also, would be able to open a bank account not being an american citizen.

I'd frankly just prefer to leave the chips in one of the big hotels/poker rooms if it's somehow possible.

There aren't any available.

Yes you would be.

There's probably some casino somewhere that has boxes. I couldn't give you the answer.

ive had money (~20k) at the bellagio cage for about 2 years. they wouldn't let me cash it out one time and i forgot about it. it's still there, so i imagine you could just do that. you're much better off getting some interest on this money, obviously.

You try getting too much cash into Israel and then back to USA w/o losing a year out of your life and then talk to me about interest

I've been thinking about wiring some money ($40k ish) to a casino cos i don't wanna be raped by exchange rates at a travel agent here in the UK.

How would i go about this? Will i be charged a fee or certain % or be screwed by the exchange rate? Which casinos are good for this, i'll probably be playing the uncapped $10/20nl games at the Wynn a fair amount, they ok for wiring money/accessing $?

Thanks

Not trying to be a h8er at all, and I haven't even stayed, there, but I did a fair amount of research.

From what I could tell, MGM Signature is VERY nice, great rooms, and highly rated on tripadvisor. If I were going there w/ my wife, it'd probably be in my top 3, and quite possibly #1.

If I were going there by myself, I would probably be more apt to choose something a little younger/closer. It seemed even getting to the MGM from sinature is a bit of a trek.. and it's very quiet and maure at the signature.

obv i haven't stayed there, so feel free to shoot this down or just take it for what it's worth. It's def an awesome hotel.

In Arizona? Chances are pretty good you'll get caught. Everyone, and I mean everyone down to the dog catcher, has radar or lidar or vascar. Arizona has a LOT of cops. It's not like California or Nevada. There is no way in hell you can average 90 mph. If you get clocked over 95, you're probably going to jail. BTDT (friend was driving).
