Mandalay Bay > Monte Carlo both in terms of quality, fellow pool-goers, and price. I don't know how to say which one is better for the price. Mandalay Bay has a nekkid pool and Monte Carlo has a lot of kids if either of those factor into your decision.

Hey,
I'm going to Vegas for the first time at the end of this month...some quick questions:

Hotel: Staying at the MGM (Thurs-Sat) - Paying $300 - Is that the best deal for that price? Also is the $20 trick useless at MGM? (from reading reviews it seems they'll just upgrade you to a West Wing room and I've read that the regular rooms are better)

Shows: I figure a Cirque show (never been) will be good...Most recommend Ka or Mystere for first timers...I probably should see Ka since I'm staying at MGM right? (I've read so many different reviews of both and it seems it comes down to personal preference)...Should I get tickets from Tix4tonight or from the hotel?

Thanks in advance

Are there any Vegas hotels that offer free wifi and free access to the gym? Doesn't have to be both, just either or is fine.

Last time I stayed at Venetian they offered access to the gym and wifi for the $15 / room / day resort fee.

I got my tickets for Ka at 1/2 price show tickets or Tix4Tonight or whatever, and I think it's your best bet. When I redeemed my tickets at the box office, I asked them what my tickets were actually worth, and it ends up I had saved quite a significant amount - something like $90 for the pair or something!

However, they don't guarantee having tickets for everything, it seems. I was trying to see if I'd be able to get discounted Mystere tickets for my upcoming trip and the website will provide a 'sneak preview' of what's available by showing that day's tickets, but they don't project forward too much.

I'd also suggest going early in the morning for the day you want. When I was trying to see any CDS show, or even yucky Blue Man Group, I tried finding tickets in the late afternoon, and everything was sold out

My wife and I live in a 750 sq. ft. apartment and I play online poker for a living. In the winter we keep our place anywhere between 65 and 68 and in the summer we keep it around 75-78.

Jan: $80
July: $120

Pretty much any full-size Borders or B&N in the area should have it. I didn't see it in the airport when I was there a couple of months ago. FSM has a Borders Express, so they're less likely to have it as well.

The girlfriend and I are thinking of staying at Encore in late March. I saw on Expedia that they charge up to $200/night for incidentals. I'm pretty sure I know what incidentals covers but just to be sure, what does it mean again? Is it damage to the room, the mini bar, both, or something different?

I'd suggest asking Expedia exactly what that means. A number of Vegas hotels charge a "Resort Fee" for things like wifi, pool & exercise room, etc. but $200/day seems way above the normal charge.

Well the resort fee is included with the price of the stay however they want a credit card on file for the incidentals. I'm guessing you get reimbursed for this upon check out unless you chug the entire mini bar?

Ok. That's standard. They won't charge against that unless you purchase something to the room. Things like minibar, room service, restaurant/bar charges, spa, etc.

Last edited by DuckyLucky; 01-14-2010 at 05:03 AM. Reason: Could be +EV to trash a Wynn room, and only have to pay $200.

Do you only get charged the amount that the item/service costs and not the entire $200 for that day?

Ex: I drop a buy-in at the table and decide to drown my sorrows in a small bottle of Grey Goose.

Obv. that doesn't cost $200, so I'd only get charged for the cost of the bottle if that was all I took from the mini bar, correct?

It's basically a charge that keeps out rif-raf. Someone who can't produce security for $200 doesn't get a room.

You only pay for what you use or consume. If you decide to open the bottle from the mini-bar, you pay for it. If you leave the mini-bar intact, you don't pay.
