If you replace "free better" with "free more expensive" beer in his statement and combine that with the fact that people usually go with the more expensive option for everything free, you have the non-judgmental answer why nobody in here seems to know.

Fun fact about Miller High Life: Last year a shipment of cans with the “The Champagne of Beers” slogan was destroyed by Belgian customs after the French champagne trade organization complained about the slogan. You're not allowed to call anything Champagne in the EU if it's not actually from the Champagne region.

recently watched a video on jacob's life in vegas about tier matching that a lot of casinos are doing right now. I currently have a trip booked 5/30-6/4 and was thinking about trying to do this. I'm a low roller so I think my best bet would be to get a credit card to move up a status, then move through the process Jacob showed. I double booked at Harrah's and Excalibur and here's what I'm wondering.

1. Would doing this process get me to Diamond status at Caesars? I currently am gold and would not be a new customer;

2. If I'm able to get to a resorts fee waiver level at either MGM or Caesars, woudl I be able to apply that to my stay on 5/30-6/4? As in, I would land, drop off bags, and before checking in use all of these steps. Then, when I go to check in, see if the benefits (including no resorts fees) coudl be applied to the stay that I booked previously on my poverty level tier?

It also depends on what "steps" you're talking about. Matching from casino to casino is probably instant when you're on property, but some of these credit card and/or hotel matching programs take time to go through the system. There's a lot of talk about the Wyndham match and some others in the Diamond in a Day thread.

The steps he suggests that you take are getting the Caesars platinum level. I'd need to get that by applying for the caesars credit card. That takes you to platinum. From there, you take your platinum card to Wynn. They have a status match until the end of May. Wynn would match you to their Wynn Platinum. From there, you go to fontaineblue. They have a status match that will take you to their gold sttaus if you have Wynn Platinum. Having the Fontaineblue gold status allows you to go back to MGM, show Wynn platinum status, and then they will match you to MGM Gold.

I've already booked a room at Excalibur and Harrah's for the time that I'm going to be in Vegas. Both reservations cost around $500. My thought was:

1. I arrive in Vegas at 7AM on 5/30.
2. Find somewhere to drop off my bags and go to all of these casinos, hopefully to get these status upgrades
3. From there, go back to the hotel where I'm staying and start the check-in process.
4. Usually when I check in, especially since I'm a lowroller, I just do the online one to expedite everything. This actually can be helpful since I get rooms ASAP but with this, I was thinking maybe I could do the in person check-in, present the upgraded status card, and see what upgrades are available as well as see if the resort fees can be waived for the stay I'm about to have.


My kicker is that I was actually leaning toward staying at Harrah's. It doesn't sound like this process will allow me to get to platinum at Caesars so that may be a no-go and I shoudl probably try this at excalibur. Assuming this matching process works, I know it would be great for future stays and I'd get much better deals but I'm mainly curious if it would apply to the trip that I'm there for in that moment. If we think it is, I'm tempted to look into a better MGM property knowing that it would be much cheaper than the reservation due to resort fees likely being waived.

I happen to enjoy MHL and was therefore seeking info on where it might be served, not on everyone's opinions.

I'm not positive, but I thought the MGM match was only good for 90 days unless you earn like 50k TC by the end of the year (or is it earlier?).

The whole thing starts with getting caesars platinum.

If you start now, you should be able to get it. Assuming you have ok credit, you can apply online and probably have the card in a couple weeks. If you don't already have a caesars rewards players card, get that first so you can associate the number when you apply for the credit card. You can do that online, but once you arrive in Vegas you'll still need to stop at any caesars property to get the physical card, that you then take to Wynn, etc.

The in-person matches should be instantaneous. So then as long as you're MGM Gold before you check out, you should (at minimum) be able to get resort fees removed, but may need to visit the front desk to accomplish that. I wouldn't count on a nightly rate reduction, but doesn't hurt to ask.

Also, be realistic and pack your patience. Airport > Caesars property > Wynn > F-blu > MGM property is going to be a multi-hour trek with a lot of standing in lines. Make sure to hydrate.

Platinum at Caesars won't get resort fees waived. Have to be diamond for that.

If you are staying at the Excalibur and Harrah's I can't see chasing comps at the Wynn. Seems like a lot of hassle to save less than $100.

The Wynn would be a step in the process of saving $200 to stay at excalibur haha

Depends what he means by "on the phone." If he means playing with it or checking facebook, never. If he means in the old-school sense of speaking with someone on a phone call, all the time.
