Haha. It is a little like something from an old movie or a cartoon. Occasionally they have a sob story, but usually, they are just like, "wanna buy this?"
The 3 card monte was even more like a movie or show. I feel silly even describing it. They had plants in the audience who would "win." The plants were not very good actors, were all tatted up and sleazy looking, and were clearly of the same ethnicity as the guy running the game, though I think they were probably immediate family.
2 dozen people standing around, watching. A few small bets. Finally, when it's "obvious" where the little ball is, a fish literally empties his wallet of like $400 or so to make a bet. And, again, the dude could have walked a few hundred feet and bet the $ at Bellagio with a 2% house edge rather than 100%.
I considered trying to stop him. Maybe I should have. Interesting spot, morally.
Is this still going on? I'm not really on the strip proper much these days, but I used to see it semi-regularly.
