Do you need directions to the airport as well?
Google, what's that?

In all serious, though, I've googled plenty. I'm just coming up short. I'm looking if anyone that's living in Vegas has gone through this and has any recommendations. If so, great. If not, sucks.

fwiw, the only casino in vegas i've been carded at is the palms, and it happens almost every time I am there. and i do not look young, so stay away from the palms.
I clearly appear to be over 21 and I have been carded for:

a) standing outside the rail of a poker room for a couple minutes
b) ordering a bottle of water
c) sitting next to someone (at a slot machine which I wasn't playing) that orders a drink

plus all of the usual times you'd expect to get carded

the chances of a minor getting a drink in a casino are exceedingly low without some form of covert activity (ie, the minor being nowhere in sight at the time that the drink is initially acquired)

So I'm going to Vegas for one night, Wednesday, Septemeber 9th. Since I'm only there for the one night I want to stretch it out as much as possible (in other words get there Wednesday morning, leave Thursday afternoon/evening). I'm staying at the Flamingo and I see their check in/out times are 3:00 PM and 12:00 PM, respectively.

I have yet to book my flight and I was planning on choosing the one that gets me in LV at 10:30 AM, but if I can't go to my room right away, I might opt for the one that gets me there 2:00 PM. Similar situation with leaving. I don't know if they have baggage hold (where they'll hold my bags until check in/out times) and was hoping that someone who has stayed there/used the baggage services could enlighten me. If they held you baggage, how much did they charge/did you tip?

Every hotel will hold your bags, free of charge. Tip a couple bucks. You can usually check in at any time too, you don't have to wait til 3.

Free hotel rooms? Is this just a rumour I keep hearing about? I have been told several times that if you play on a certain casino (poker) for like 2-5 hours per day they will simply give you a free room. I did try to search around this forum but so far no luck

Nope, not for poker players.

I've been carded when I was old enough to be the parent of the person carding me. The older brother of a parent.

Feel the need to respond since nobody's brought up this critically important point: people under 21 are allowed in the casinos but not on the gaming floor. She'll be allowed to walk on the walkways, but can't sit beside you at a slot machine or stand behind you at a blackjack table.

Casinos, IME, are pretty strict about this.

In general, the casino will give about 1/4 of what they expect to earn off of you back in comps.

If you're playing 100 hands of blackjack and hour at $100 per hand for 4 hours a day for 4 days, they will estimate your drop at $1600-$3200 (casinos assume people are morons and lose 1-2% at blackjack) and your comps will be valued at $400-$800.

At a poker table, the drop is $4-$6/hand, or for the same 4 hrs/day for 4 days and 30 hands/hr, that's $1900-$2500 dropped -- divided by 10 people.

At a $5 slot machine (or $1 slot machine played 5 ways), you're losing $.25 for every pull, and there's oh god like 1000 pulls/hr. For the same time frame, you're now giving the casino $4,000 and they didn't even need to hire a dealer to deal to you.

slot comps >> table game comps >> poker comps

Slot comps rule. My wife likes to play those blasted things, but she sets a daily "budget" of the full retail price of our room. In return for a suprisingly small investment, she has offers for free rooms @ Mandalay and NYNY + $30/night deal @ Venetian (with more small slots credits!).

And, if I have poker winnings to declare, I can get a tax statement about her slot losses to offset my winnings that are accurate to the penny.

So while slots makes me nuts, mileages do vary. My wife likes it and our "rakeback" is substantial. And out of our last 8 trips to LV, I've been able to completely cover her slot losses and other table game losses with poker gains 3 times.

I know of several people who worked "the system" for several years, basically playing enough video poker (where you can routinely find 99% payback machines and occasionally 100%+ payback machines) to get free rooms, and apparently the best part is that once the offers start, they don't easily stop.

If your wife likes it, that's the best part, though. Then you can play poker guilt-free. My wife hates everything about Vegas except for the Salvatore Ferrogamo store and the Bellagio Buffet (neither of which I'm going to leave her at while I play), so me in Vegas, poker, and wife is choose two of three.

I went to Mystere a few weeks ago, first ever Vegas show. Well worth the admission. That **** was insane. Next time I'll have to see like 2 shows. Didn't realize it would be so awesome.

Is there a liquor store within walking distance of NYNY?

Please give street directions if possible.

Thanks in advance.

You can always call the Bellagio/Venetian/Wynn and ask them about their dry cleaning service, if they quote something much higher you can just attribute that to your source staying at nicer places than Bally's.
FYI (should anybody be curious about this in the future) - Jacket, shirt, slacks came to $26.

Depending on what and how much you're looking for, the CVS just north of Monte Carlo is probably the closest place, although almost certainly not the cheapest.

Liquor store with good prices inside Orleans Hotel/Casino on west Trop. Not really walking distance, but if you happen to be over there, it's a short cab ride back to NYNY. AM PM Mart at Polaris and Trop across from WildWildWest beside McDonalds has cheap beer. 40 oz Coors @ $1.19 last times I stopped in. Cabs are always gassing up there.

When i was at Luxor they offered me to pay a deposit of 125$ and theyd reserve a room for me and if i go there within next whatever monthes theyd repay me my deposit and id have the room for free for 4 nights.

Basically giving me a free room if they make sure ill come back there.

Is there a catch/scam somewhere? Didnt bite as i wasnt sure when id be able to go back, but do maybe lower level casinos do these kinds of offers regularly?

Not like i was a high roller there by any means, so its not the gambling.

Never heard of that Luxor deal you describe, but it's probably legit in today's economy. It's about time the mega-casinos start offering attractive incentives to get real gamblers on the casino floor.

Little tip for the forum

Earl of Sandwich outside the Planet Hollywood sportsbook is THE MOST clutch place in the entire city. Best sandwiches anywhere, open 24 hours.

There's no place I've been more excited to find than Earl of Sandwich. Perfect place for post-Prive or if you're an all-night PH degen like me.

From the pictures on the menu, all the sandwiches have like 2 pounds of meat in them. Just seems like too much every time I was nearby...

There's not nearly 2 lbs of meat on any of their sandwiches

On the contrary, the only complaint you could have with their sandwiches is that maybe they're too small.
