Weigh in on which restaurant I should go to with Wife: Delmonico's at V or N9NE at Palms?

Prices count, but quality of food/service/sides/drinks/desserts is more significant.

Thanks

Regarding wiring to the Rio - I am shipping a ton of money by bank wire there. I want to be able to take some to play events in other casnios / spending money / walking around money

The girl on the phone said she couldnt say I would be able to use them as a bank etc, does anybody have any experience of trying to get money out of the cage in cash instead of in markers and so on?

To save $1k, stay at IP. If you GF hates it after the 1st week, you could probably still get a good rate somewhere else.

I think they had significant management/chef turnover recently. A friend ate there recently and said he wasn't nearly as happy with the meal as he'd been before.

My GF loved Prime @ Bellagio- when making the reservation let them know you'd like to have drinks/dessert out on the patio. It is right in front of the Bellagio fountains- she will love it.

o btw- for people staying off the strip check out Whole Foods specialty grocery store. They have a bunch of prepared/cooked food there, and tons of meats for grilling. you can go every few days and never cook for a month.

a general idea on what these tourneys would run me would be great, probably bringing 800-1500 for poker that trip.
Caesars has a big satellite schedule for the WSOP but there was no interest yet as of early May, nobody showing up to play in the scheduled ones. I imagine that will change as the dates get closer, if not already.

As for mtt's from 50-200, Caesars for $150-$200, or Venetian for about the same amount offer the best structures. Anything less than $150, the structures aren't too good, but Red Rocks has a pretty good $100 buy-in every day at 10am but they're way out west almost to the mountains. Planet Hollywood has a $60 buyin with a better structure than most in that price range.

How far in advance do I need to make a reservation to get a table at one of the very good restaurants?

louis, you can normally book same day if it's midweek and you're willing to eat maybe a little early. if it's weekend you probably want to book a few days in advance.

My girlfriend's birthday is during our stay and falls on a Friday (I assume this is considered the weekend). I wanted her to spontaneoulsy pick any restaurant she wants and wondered if that is doable.
If not, I guess I will have to figure out where she wants to go beforehand without being too obvious.
Will a generous tip to the maitre d' get me a table if I don't have a reservation?

Or just make 4 or 5 reservations and gamble that she picks one of those.

Imo, girls like it better when you take responsibility and make the choice of restaurant for them. It allows her to think that you picked one that suits her especially. Just don't pick a steak house if she's a vegan, you'll be fine. Unless of course she has special knowledge of Vegas restaurants that you don't.

Warning: Concept does not apply when buying stuff for the house, or renting movies. They love to micro manage that ****.

Actually she does. She is a cook herself, into fine cuisine and reads those gourmet magazines. As she is a "fan" of Wolfgang Puck maybe I should gamble on her picking "Spago" and just to be safe get reservations at Cut, Postrio and Chinois.

I would try to bring it up casually in conversation to see if there is any place where she really wants to have a meal.

Definitely make reservations for Friday birthday dinner, and it might not be a bad idea to make a couple if you are undecided. Just be sure to call and cancel with enough notice. Some of the Caesars Palace places take credit card numbers to hold the reservation, and I do not know what they charge for no-shows.

went to the bank today to ask about wiring money to vegas, they didn't really get it.

is it best to wait until i'm there and then order a wire from my bank to the cage when i'm physically standing in vegas and able to verify it?

or from australia before i leave, after calling ahead to let the casino know in advance?

presumably need to send it to where i'm staying? meh, i feel so dumb, someone spell all this out to me please! i am a dumb australian who wants to wire 50K+ to vegas to play most of the wsop events.

Most banks i would imagine would want you physically present to do a wire, ie youd have to go in there and ask to wire money. Youll need the name of the recipient, their aba number and an account number. The casino youre wiring money to should be able to give you this.

instructions for wiring to the rio to register for WSOP events

You need this information from the Rio: Bank location/address, Account number, Swift code, Routing number. Your bank should be able to wire with this information. If you go there and they are confused as for a manager who isn't ******ed.

Also, the Rio (or wherever you wire) will probably want you to attach a memo to make tracking it easier. Figure out of just attaching your name is sufficient, so it doesn't take time to find it while you get here. You will also want to do this BEFORE you leave, as most banks won't wire over the phone.

Ok, so let's say i want to bring 15k with me, but i want to avoid declaration for tax reasons.

What is the punishment i may face if the money is found?

Are we talking about jail time, confiscating the whole amount or a fine?

Would really like to know.

Hasn't anyone heard of traveler's checks? When we travel outside the U.S.A. to a foreign country, we take traveler's checks. I assume visitors to the U.S.A. can more or less do the same thing.

This was gonna be my next q, are traveller's checks considered "cash".

Can i bring 10k in cash and 5k in checks?

Edit: Also, does Rio accept traveller's checks?
