OK, hiking is off -- plan B: best place to play tennis near the strip? (or in summerlin as we're interested in exploring summerlin)

If this doesn't work my wife will make me go to soulcycle

You might ask the Top Dog of this website as I understand he plays tennis although I don't think he lives in Summerlin.

Bally's still has tennis courts. I remember a recent trip report where they played and the price didn't seem unreasonable.

Just saw that there is a decent looking series at the Venetian the week after I leave unfortunately. There has to be a quicker way than googling every poker venue individually though?
You only have to look up Venetian, Aria, Wynn and Bellagio if you’re looking for a good tournament series. Maybe not even Aria.

Yep, 4 courts next to the Blu Pool at Ballys. Believe we paid around $70 (?) for two rackets, tennis balls and rent of court, although my memory might be off on the prize.

Can probably just walk straight up and ask to play, would be surprised if they are all fully booked too often.

Sweet, just reserved a court at Bally's (was $25/hr -- we're bringing our own rackets)

$70 to play tennis? That takes balls.

I use to play tennis.

I'm guessing you are talking about renting an indoor court? The one time we went to New York it was in winter and I can't imagine playing tennis outside.

Now back to Vegas.

How sketchy is the area around the Strat especially walking at night? I have seen some posts on other sites saying it was sketchy, but those were old posts.

I have a coworker who just told me she is going to Vegas and due to her budget, she is staying at the Strat. All in, the room for three nights comes to $323.

It is going to be her, her daughter, and the son-in-law. They are going there for the touristy stuff and I am trying to talk her out of the Strat. I think it is in a less than prime location in terms of convenience. And it might be sketchy.

The budget seems pretty firm as I found her a room at Luxor for about fifty dollars more and she didn't seem too enthusiastic. But if they stay at the Strat, I think they will either do a lot of walking or spend a lot more on ground transportation than if they were staying somewhere further down the strip.

She is signed up with Caesars' total rewards, but she hasn't been there in so long I think it might have been pre-merger. Anyway, I suggested she go to our local Harrahs, get a new card, and use it to check out rates for Caesars properties in Vegas.

I am diamond so I was wondering if there is anything I can do to help her get a good rate out there even though I won't be one of those out there at the time?

LOL no def not possible to play outdoors in the winter. Point was $70 for a court would be a steal. I pay more than that for group clinics.

I suppose if you did play outdoors in winter in New York, you would use blue balls.

Strat area is bad but stay on the Strip for any walking and you'll be fine. Plus you can uber. The STRAT is in the middle of a remodel (and rebrand to the STRAT) but idk how much of the room product is updated today. [As of a year ago I see this: https://www.gamingtoday.com/industry..._of_Guestrooms which says you want the 'Elevate' rooms, that they are still cheap, and that 252 of them are remodeled. I believe they have like 1500 rooms total.]

Luxor isn't a ton better in terms of room quality ime, but yeah definitely better location esp with the tram and not as sketchy.

Doubtful you can do much as diamond if you wont be here. Of course if you call one of your diamond friends out here they can probably check in and get a few keys and do the old switcheroo.

Good idea, but I don't have friends out there. Heck, I don't have friends on here either.

Even with Uber, I think she would spend more on transportation than she would save by staying at the Strat as compared to another hotel.

Yeah i mean she just has to do that math. And don't forget resort fees, which I'm assuming are higher at Luxor (MGM) than Strat.

The short answer though is she isn't going to die if she stays at the Strat. Just stay on the Strip (unless you want to walk to Luv It Frozen Custard ). Luxor is more convenient to south and center strip, which is probably where she wants to be.

(Female) friend of mine stayed in one of the remodeled Strat rooms for at least a week during the series this summer. She posts a bunch on FB and complained about random Vegas stuff several times but didn’t mention anything negative about the hotel experience. So at least for her it probably wasn’t too bad.

Well, she is older and says one of her hips is bothering her.

I did suggest renting a scooter, but if she wants to watch the cost of a room she may not want to fork over the money for a scooter.

I just noticed when I booked the room for my trip, I did not change the default from two people to just one.

Does it really matter?

Walking south from the strat on LVB is totally fine 24 hrs/day. Might not feel amazing walking north but there's really no reason to.

When I went in June the casino was pretty torn up from renovations but you can tell it's going to be a big upgrade when it gets done. The new craft beer bar is nice!

I think another trail takes one to an mid-19th century farm house that isn't too far away, and the rocks are always right there and fun to walk/clamber over.

I don't think it's cooler at Red Rock, do you mean Mount Charleston?

If I have to check out at noon and my flight isn’t until 8pm will the hotel keep my bags safe somewhere so I don’t have to lug them around ? I’ll be at either the Luxor or Tropicana if that matters
