I have paid for a room at a couple different Harrah's locations around the country with Total Rewards comps. Use it just like a credit card. It's good for pretty much anything Harrah's sells, far as I know.
In addition to the $1/hr you'll get from poker and whatever comps you get from play in the casino, you will also get special offers from Harrah's for free rooms, free shows, discounts, whatever. How much of that you get depends on your level of play and where you play and how badly Harrah's thinks they need you to come back and the phase of the moon and other super secret Harrah's algorithms.
