Which beer store has the best selection in Vegas? A quick Yelp search is pointing me toward Top Shelf, is that a good option?

Trying to get some good stuff to have back in my room for a nightcap post-WSOP nightly. I'm staying at the Residence Inn on Dean Martin, would be even better if theres a good place close to that!

Assuming you're flying in, there's a total wine in town square that should suffice and doesn't take you too far out of your way from airport to hotel

Lee’s also has a fantastic selection of beers depending on which one you go to.

planning on playing in a WSOP event next year, kinda on a budget.

what do you guys recommend?

im thinking about booking a hotel for 2 nights (if i have to stay 3rd I will) I already talked to dynasty about a hotel and he gave me a good reccs.

basically what other advice tips would you give me? best places to play 1/2NL at?

I assume booking a hotel and flight 2 months ahead of time is good and saves me money?

What event you play depends mostly on how much money you want to spend. Up until a couple of years ago, the answer was to pick a random $1500 event because that was the lowest regular event they had or not to play a bracelet event at all but a smaller tournament at a different casino instead.

Today, there are events with buy-ins as little as $365. But be aware that those tournaments usually are on weekends which means higher cost for your hotel room.

Yes, booking 2 months out is a good idea. Then you can see if rates drop and switch if you can do that without incurring a fee.

It’s hard to say any room’s 1/2 is better than the next. It’s really table by table, so playing where a bunch of 1/2 is running is probably the better idea.

I would say the biggest Lee’s will probably have the most selection.

the GIANT and Colossus structures seem really really fast for a wsop event so I would prolly play in a 1k event that has 45-60min blind structures imo. if I cant find one(1k events are rare I think) it ll either be a 1.5k event or just play at one of the venetian tourneys for 400$ that has really nice structure for that type of tourney and then play cash games the rest of the 1-2 days im there i think. I need to see how many 1k events usually are there and also if they fix giant or collo structures

madlex made a good point about more tables the variance that can come with it. anyone thinks the rio would be a great spot for cash games? last 2 years people are saying its getting tougher becuase of the nitt regs that post up there.

You are correct about Colossus/Giant, it's fun to gamble in them but if its your only tournament of the summer you really won't have much fun.

The Venetian MSPT events are a good alternative if you can't make it work to play a wsop $1k.

I honestly wouldn't advise coming to the wsop looking for cash game action at 5/10 or below. It's almost a lock that the games wherever you live will be softer.

I use Presidential and tip the same amount, the trip to the casino includes a quick stop at Vons for booze and water as well.

Open an MLife or Hyatt credit card... Hyatt credit card use to be the most EV, but it takes about a month for everything to get linked up. Hyatt signup bonus for me was worth 1500 dollars alone.

Get the MGM credit card and make one charge to it. If your credit reports are open they can approve you on the spot. It's a no fee card.

It can take a day or two for the new Pearl card to become active so for those first couple days be prepared to go up to the exit gate, try the card, then hit the button for help to have a human remote open it for you.

The credit card is supposed to let you use the short line for checkin and buffets as well.

My bad I should have specified I meant by gambling. I leave wednesday so wouldn't be able to do a cc in time and it prob wouldn't be worth getting that card for free parking over another cc with a better $ bonus. Thx though.

Ah, there's some threads around here about racking up tier points. Jacks or better I guess. If you're staying at a MGM property, then obviously charge everything to your room.

There might be booth/tables set up for you to apply on-site for the credit card...

I've thought about this for my trip at the end of July, but my experience with cards that award frequent flyer miles is they take far too long to credit your account with the bonus.

If I'm just looking to skip lines would I be able to get this card and be Pearle by mid July?

Credit score is very high and I would have no problem meeting whatever minimum spending is required.

Thanks

Heading to LV next week for a week - basically a pure poker trip, but what are some decent diversions in the afternoon for a couple hours - out of the heat - to do as a break from poker? It seems like there are no matinee type shows, so is it just the attractions within each of the resorts as options?

- Mac King at Harrah's (~$15 inc drink with coupon from the TR desk)
- Pinball Hall of Fame
- Haven't done the museums myself but hear good things about most of them
