Does the $20 trick still work at most places?

And recommendations for shows currently going on on the strip?

I don't think I've ever been to the Orleans, and barely know how to play HORSE, but was thinking of stopping by tonight for the $105 weekly tournament for the hell of it. But...

That can't be right, can it? 26% rake? lmao

I haven't played the Orleans tourney, but I've played in some small tourneys at other casinos and the house "admin fee" (rake) is always high like that.

Wow, I didn't realize things were that bad. I'm not really a tournament guy.

Not even the highest. Harrah's takes $30 for their $100 bounty tournament. Bally's takes $25 for a $75 tournament. I'm not sure why South Point only takes $10 for a $100 tournament, but I would expect a $100-ish tourney to be about 20-25%. I'm not sure if they can break even taking less unless it is a very fast structure.

With those super low stakes tournaments, you have to look at it another way: they charge you $27 to play a poker tournament.

It’s hard to find anything significantly cheaper than that. I think the Rio has a $65 that has $20 rake and a couple smaller casinos have buy-ins in the $45 range with ‘only’ $10-15 rake but $25+ is super standard for everything $100 and up.

At least it'll be a soft field. High rake means less regs. Less regs means better games. So I guess, more rake is better.

At Orleans, it will mostly be regs. But that doesn't mean the regs are good.

This has probably been asked many times before and I mostly know the answer already, but just to double-check. How impossible are cash game lists, $1/$2 and $1/$3 in particular, during WSOP? Thinking about a mid-June or mid-July trip only for cash games, so this is a major factor Cheers!

The WSOP ends mid-July. So if you get there on July 15, it won't be busy at all.

Everything else is a little bit uncertain this year because they extended the schedule. In the past, the Main Event started around July 4 and that basically meant the end of the WSOP (for everybody not in the ME anymore).

I'd expect wait lists at rooms like Bellagio and Aria to be crazy again, but according to other players most other rooms weren't too bad last year and probably won't be bad this year.

Total Rewards Diamond Card is super clutch during WSOP. You cut right to the front of all waitlists for cash games in the WSOP area. It’s awesome to cut in front of 20 or more people and get right into the games

Don't expect to get into any cash games in a reasonable amount of time during the Colossus weekend.

Used my diamond card last year during Colossus and got straight to the front of the list every time.

I don't think it was too serious but he was concerned enough to want the thread removed.

Just booked my Flights and Accomodation for WSOP, Two Weeks in June / July.

Where would be the best (near strip) spot to try some edibles?
