What about off strip options with a nice pool that would be cheaper than Vdara? My wife literally has no use for the strip. We will probably hit grand canyon one day.

So you are looking for a nice but cheap off-Strip non-gaming hotel? I'm not sure that even exists?

There are good casino resorts off the Strip like Red Rock, M and JW Marriot but they all come with a casino and price point not super far away from Vdara.

The only honest advice for somebody who doesn't like gambling, clubbing, fine dining or luxury shopping: Pick a different destination than Vegas. There are so many options in the US/Mexico for less or similar money that feature an actual beach instead of only pools.

Any off-strip place that has a casino will be as smoky or smokier than those on the strip. Having a casino makes nice places cheap. Quite a conundrum.

Are you sure the wife actually wants to go to Vegas?

There are several options in the Convention Center area including a Marriott Residence Inn, Springhill Suites and others. This search is for 4 star or better rated.

Best value even with the Resort fee and casino may be Tuscany Suites. Highly rated.

Anything specific to know about LV during SB weekend? Any place especially good to watch the game?

Tuscany is a great place for people on a budget who spend little time in the room and don’t mind the 15min walk to the Strip. But I wouldn’t classify the rooms or pool area as places where I would want to spend the majority of my day.

Depends on how much you want to spend. People rave about Lagasse‘s Stadium but I think they charge $400/person for the all-inclusive package in your own little area? Friends of mine went to Marquee Dayclub last year and liked it. That one was $125 I think which is probably right around where most things on the Strip are. Lots of people go to sports books, place their bets and have a couple of drinks and then watch the game from their hotel room.

What can you guys say about The M in general? I know there's no casino and that it's south of the strip. Just curious about anything else. First time I'll be staying there

For starters, they do have a casino

I‘ve never stayed there because if I want to be off-Strip, I’d always pick Red Rock. But just from visiting, it’s pretty nice but nothing special.

Gotcha. We have a work event. I must've mixed up poker and casino, cuz I checked website and you're correct. Looks like it will be easier to lose money than I thought!

I was there during the super bowl last year, it's a good time but honestly not much different than any other busy-ish time of year.

how many people are you needing to get together to watch the game?

As madlex said, they do have a casino. I haven't been there in a few years, but IMO it's beautiful. Lots of natural light comes through which is a welcome change from the typical casino. The cocktail waitresses were nicknamed "the fembots" because, well...

The only downsides are the location and no poker.

Ya, there's lots of bars on the strip. I'm sure there's lots of strip clubs too.

Thanks guys. Tuscany or Platinum are both good options. I talked more with the wife and I think you guys are right.

Seems silly to spend the money to fly to Vegas and then spend so much time/money to get away from Vegas.

We might do something more local or hit Sedona Thanks!

Sometimes I am playing Blackjack with a couple of friends at the same table. Some of my friends don´t double in certain spots unless they are huge favorites to win the hand.

I was thinking if it is somehow possible for me to buy their doubles... Is it allowed?

Yes, but he may want to hit again when the dealers card is greater than 6 and they draw to less than 17
