$139 weekdays, $189 weekends @bellagio. (+tax +resort fee imho)

Thoughts on downtown? I'm thinking of staying there my next trip, but somehow haven't actually made it downtown any of my trips. What is the average age downtown, is it really old or still a decent amount of younger-middle age people? I've read everything from it is complete trash to it is more fun and has a friendlier vibe than the strip. I fully understand it is not as luxurious and don't care about that for this trip.

Downtown is mostly older but there is a younger contingent. I guess it's how you define "trash." It can feel a little methy sometimes, at least more than it would on the strip.

Downtown is fine. It is a bit of a freak show at night. But, I kind of like things that are different like that anyway. Everything is much closer together than on the strip so it is easier to get from place to place for sure.

I need a rec for a lounge/bar to have a couple of drinks tonight after dinner with some friends.

Here's what I'm looking for:
-On strip or near
-Not super crowded or at least quiet enough to have a conversation easily
-Good beer selection

It's a Saturday so bars will be busy. For me, I'd get a table at public house at Venetian if I were compelled to go to the strip, but again could be really busy.

Pub 365 at Tuscany and Rebel Republic would be my out of the box, near-strip choices. Neither will be packed. Lean 365 for proximity if you go this route.

Could also try your luck at the Linq - the bar at the Linq has a good beer selection and you have Tilted Kilt and Yard House as alternates, though I don't remember how good those beer lists are.

Downtown rooms might be noisy depending if it faces Freemont.

Main Street Station has a fantastic brew pub (great food at reasonable prices). You can also drink all the microbrews you want while playing full pay video poker.

Thanks. Ended up at Pub 365 and it was perfect for what we were looking for.

only tried it recently myself. Went for MNF and the place was surprisingly empty (~10-15 ppl), beer list was solid, and I had an unremarkable but completely passable burger.

One fearless LLSNL mod stayed downtown during our meetup in June and we hit up the brewpub for dinner one night, seconding the fantastic rating

Heading to Vegas next weekend and have a couple quick questions:

1. What (non-Harrah's) hotel pool is easiest to get into if I'm not staying at the property? In other words, which hotel pool is least likely to check for a room key.

2. I doubt any casinos still have a 4+0 drop on 2/5 NL games. Do any at least have a 4+1 drop?

Thanks.

Bellagio, Aria, and Caesar's (at least) all have $4 max rake, with no promo drop, and all regularly have 2/5 games. In fact, I'm pretty sure that means the majority of 2/5 games in Vegas are 4+0.

Moving to Vegas in the next two weeks, suggestions on parts of town to live in? I have a newborn and a fiance and plan to play 5 days a week, distance from the strip is important as well as safety.

Man, so many other factors:apt, house, or condo (assuming you'll rent, not buy)? Do you want interaction with your neighbors? Anything else you need/want to be near? Budget? How far (drive time) is too far? Etc.

PM me if you want me to put you in touch with a realtor, who can offer you more concrete options, but basically you can find a safe place to live as long as you go NW, W, SW, S, or SE. Stay away from E, NE and "North Las Vegas" (which can be hit or miss - it's not all bad, but I think this is a good general rule).

Thank you for the response, I'll be renting for the time being. My budget is $1,500 or under, which seems to go pretty far from what I have seen. I'd like to be within 30 minutes of the strip, but within a few minutes of basics like grocery stores and shopping. I'll drop you a PM, interested in any other advice anyone has as well.

FWIW - within 30 minutes of the strip, within a few minutes of groceries, and under $1500 is the entire freakin' valley -- houses, condos, apts, whatever. The world is your oyster.

You're really only priced out of luxury highrises and huge homes.

Of course it is standard. If you want to do something, reserve ASAP.

Like someone else said, your budget will go very far in Las Vegas. Summerlin would be my first choice. It's clean, safe, modern, lots of greenery, shopping, the cleanest and literally coolest air in the valley (it's elevated) and it's 6 to 10 miles from the strip. And if you're lucky you can get some incredible views

First time to Vegas and looking to play some PLO. I checked bravo and it shows Harrahs and Flamingo both run a 1-1 PLO game on Saturdays. Does anyone know if these games actually run?
