I don't know for sure, but I would think they would prefer you give them your gambling business without taking one of their comped rooms to giving them the same amount of business and using up a room.

sorry for the random Q

but what casino would be better to stay at in july: ballys, harrahs, or the linq?

theyre all around the same price, just wondering if one is much better (or worse) to stay at than another

leaning towards linq right now, but ive never stayed at any of them, only played

What is your purpose and planned things to do for the trip? I think the decision is between Linq and Ballys. Ballys is better if you want to play at Bellagio/Aria or head over to the Rio for the WSOP (they have a free shuttle).

Bally's Jubilee Tower will probably be the nicest option, and very convenient to Bellagio's poker room right across the street over the bridge and then down one hallway.

Basically looking for one of the cheaper hotel/casinos

And i figured i could just take the monorail to lvh

Never stayed at any of them, just wondering if theres anything egregiously unappealing about either

Sorry if this has been covered, but does anyone who has visited Vegas from abroad know if the atms will convert currency at the Visa rate on withdrawals, or do they have different rates set? Obviously I'm aware of the $5-10 withdrawal fees, but these should be negated somewhat as I think you can withdraw $1k at a time?

I never liked staying at Harrahs because of the noise from the Carnivale place downstairs.
Haven't stayed at the Linq yet.
Bally's is always my goto place due to price and convenience to Bellagio, where I usually do all my playing. It's not high end, but it's definitely an acceptable place to sleep at night

So how crappy is the Stratosphere hotel? Priceline put me there for 2 nights. $20 trick likely to get me anything newly-renovated or better? I don't need much - I was happy with Bally's last time, but is Stratosphere a significant step down from that? Thanks.

I second Ballys! My go to spot. Good value if you don't need an Aria it Bellagio room.

Biggest drawback is location. If you have a car, you're fine, but the Strat is at the very top of the Strip in the middle of nowhere.

Going to the top and checking out the rides is worthwhile.

I love staying at Harrah's - easily my favorite low level CET property. I do have a cabana suite at Linq for my upcoming trip so that might change.

As for the currency question, whatever bank you have will charge you the current exchange rate when you withdraw (usually the XE rate plus 2.5 or 3%) plus withdrawal fees from both the ATM and your bank. My bank (CIBC in Canada) puts these rates on their toll free number so you can call and check the rate before withdrawing.

To add on - hotel rooms here are rated much more critically than your average American city. I've stayed at all the CET properties and most of MGM (disclaimer: never circus circus or IP), TI, Tropicana and Venetian. Even the worst hotels are at least Holiday Inn Express quality.

As another opinion, I always stay at Harrah's. Rooms are certainly acceptable, and I've never had an issue with the noise (but I tend to stay up to the wee hours). I get Bally's if you play at Bellagio, but I like Venetian, so Harrah's is perfect.

I actually really like their poker room, too. Easiest one in town to get drinks, and it gets great drunk tourist games.

Hey guys - Looking for rec's on the best 1/2 or 1/3 games on the strip. I'll be out there Sunday May 22-24 and will be looking to put in fairly long sessions Sunday and Monday nights.

My plan aorn is to check out Aria, Planet Hollywood and possibly Venetian.

Will be playing mostly at Rio but want to check out some other rooms. Its my understanding I can take shuttle to Bally's n walk to Aria and Bellagio. But what about if I want to play at Wynn or Venetian wld Uber jst be my best bet?

You can just take the shuttle to Bally's and walk to Venetian or Wynn, or you can just cab/Uber straight there, assuming you can afford like $7.

Apologies if you've already read this.... It says here the Uber app has permission to detect the battery level in your phone, and if the phone's almost dead, you'll get charged Surge Pricing on the theory that you're desperate to get a ride before your phone dies. Keep those batteries charged!

Did you read the article? And is this the Uber forum?

I read the article, and it's terribly unclear. It first says Uber riders "are willing to pay" higher rates, then later says they "will pay" higher rates if their phones are low on power. It's unclear if it means they actually are being charged these rates, or if it is just being restated that they would just be willing to pay more. If the latter, it is not explained how this is known.

Is it OK to fly a drone in the parks outside the Las Vegas Strip? I've read that drones are not allowed within five miles of an airport or higher than 400 feet in the air. After I get a bad beat, can I drive to Red Rock Canyon, Valley of Fire State Park, Hoover Dam, etc. and fly a recreational drone (Phantom or Syma)?
