quick question regarding room upgrades

ive booked 3 nights at caesars for a total of 310 and 3 nights at the venetian for 561. these are for the cheapest rooms and ive read that you might be able to get an upgrade if you give them a tip

not to be a cheapskate or anything, but how much should a reasonable tip amount be? and IF they do not give you your request, will the "tip" still be taken by them?

At the Wynn? Not a prayer. You can't even pay the difference and get a suite.

Should I stay at Trump or Bellagio? I'll probably play at the Venetian either way, so the lack of a casino in the Trump isn't a factor, and I'll have a car. Also, can someone clarify what fees the Trump charges? Some places say it's $15/day, and some say it's a flat $25 no matter how many days you stay. Either way, I'm guessing that doesn't include internet access, right?

Basic question about casino etiquette and "topping off".

Let's say I have about $500 in chips in my pocket, and decide to buyin to a 1/2 game for $200. At some point in the game, my stack dips down to $160/170/whatever, and I want to top off.

Is it acceptable to just reach in my pocket and pull out more chips, or do I have to go through the dealer?

(Not looking to rathole, just cap up more easily without harassing the dealer)

Absolutely. Long as you stay below the cap, you can add to your stack between hands.

For a young group wanting a young hotel w/ hot women around pool which is the better choice out of Palms and Hard Rock? I've stayed Palms and each day around the pool was like living in Entourage but i imagine Hard Rock will also be and i dig the hard rock. So yea, is the hard rock like that too? Cheers all.

Any good sites for discounts etc. Expedia is coming up cheaper than it's own site. Any vouchers etc?

I'm staying at the Cortez for the WSOP railing birding and 2+2 meet up.

If you are staying off the strip and are going to drink what's the best way to travel around. Can you basically drive(I'm taking my own car) to any casino and find free parking/valet? Than take the trolley/monorail/shuttles around to the other casinos. At the end of the night can I take a taxi/duece back to the Cortez and leave my car at the other casino parking structure/valet more or less indefinitely.

Thanks!

Valet and self-parking are free everywhere on the strip and most everywhere downtown. Casinos on the strip are relatively close to each other so your two feet will be the main mode of transportation, followed by taxis or perhaps monorail. A taxi back to the El Cortez from the strip won't be cheap but riding the deuce late at night back there (particularly while drunk) sounds like an invitation to a shanking. And yes, you can leave your car more or less indefinitely at casino valets and garages- after all, people stay in those hotels for days.

Your first "must do" will be to get the hell away from the Riviera

As for 5/10NL, you'll only find it regularly at Bellagio, Wynn and usually Venetian. With WSOP going the Rio will have it too. Best action in that game should be at the Rio, followed by Bellagio.

There's something pretty funny about a 5/10 player staying at the Riviera.

Guys do yourself a favor and do not stay at imperial palace. I was not impressed at all. It is definitely a decent location on the strip but it was not worth it for me. I had 5 comped nights and I will admit that it was not competely terrible but it is so worth it to have a nicer room in a better hotel. I ended up moving over to the rio for 40 bux a nite and was much happier there.

The staff was friendly enough but the rooms were outdated and I really didn't like the casino much. The elevators were really slow. There is no such thing as a quiet room becasue the walls are paper thin and you will mostly hear all activity in the hallway. I asked for a quiet room and they did put me away from the carnival court which I hear is brutal if you have that out your window as far as noise goes.

On the other hand the pool was actually surprisingly awesome. They pump music, have a nice lil bbq and good waitresses. There were some nice girls out there too. Obviously doesn't hold a candle to The Venetian's or other properties but still had a good time out there.

If your on a tight budget or really don't care and just need a bed and shower and want cheap then this is certainly the place for you. The last two times in Vegas I stayed at The Venetian so obv it's incomparable. I think I am going back in August and I will be sure to spend some money on a hotel if I have to.

I will try to do a trip report later if anyone cares to read it but right now I am too tired. I had a really really good time. I LOVE VEGAS!

(1) Expedia bookings may be non-refundable, a lot of the discount search engines are.

(2) You might be able to find rates better than the poker rate. A lot of Vegas hotels were giving out steep discounts a few months ago. Try this site: http://www.smartervegas.com/hotels/b...onalcodes.aspx

(3) The poker rate can be obtained by calling the poker room and asking for the poker rate. The rate is $149/weekday and $219/weekend. See http://www.allvegaspoker.com/poker_rates.php

(4) There's a playing requirement to qualify for the poker rate - 6 hr/room/day for weekdays and 8 hr/room/weekends. So unless your GF plays poker (in which case you can split the hours) or doesn't mind you spending most of the day playing poker, the poker rate won't be helpful to you.

(5) Once you qualify once (at least at the Bellagio), you qualify for all subsequent years without having to sign in, so if you plan to make multiple trips, it might be worth one poker-heavy trip this time. Your call.

I know it's not Bellagio but Venetian has a poker room rate and you only have to play a Deep Stack event to get it. It is on pages 2/3 of the DSE III .pdf file on the V site. I got $99 weekdays and $139 weekends, page 3 lists the rates by day.

Probably hard to get a Salone for any sort of poker rate. That kind of room is usually 500+ per night.

As for qualifying one time only, it depends on how much they like you. If you play high limits, bribe the floor often, etc, probably true. I do not. Even though I had the time put in, I still had a hard time getting the correct rate.

I've never tipped anyone besides a dealer and never played anything higher than $4/$8 limit and I've never had a problem getting the correct rate.

Maybe I look like such a donkey they figure it's good to get me back to feed the regulars.

if you want a picture of the strip from kind of far away, the top of the green valley ranch parking garage is pretty cool with a good camera.
