Get the Bravo app. Call ahead. Eliminates a big chunk of potential waiting issues.

& yeah, confirmed JFF @ Hakkasan.

Vegas noob here. I just got an offer for flights and hotel combined which is really dirt cheap. The only "problem" is that the hotel is the Stratosphere. I have heard mixed rumours about the place, some saying the area is quite dodgy/unsafe.

Any tips or recommendations?

The room was fine when I stayed there like 5 years ago on the 2nd night after moving here.

But who knows if it still is, & I agree with everything else augie said.

Read as many reviews as you can for the past 4/6 months. Check other deals (priceline express/name your price can be killer, I got a 5 star hotel on the south strip this weekend for $75/night). There's so many places to stay there, paying a little more to stay somewhere that's not scary/smoky/nasty is worth it.

I understand the implications of this question but going to ask it anyway...is it worth playing 1-2/1-3 or should I just stick to 2-5?

We're planning a trip to Vegas Superbowl weekend (arrive Fri, leave Mon), for a friends birthday. I'm the only poker player going, the rest is a mix of degen's and rookies, including one or two Vegas Virgins. I expect Fri/Sat will be mostly poker for me and the wife, but Sunday is the actual birthday, as well as Superbowl Sunday. Any suggestions for good Superbowl related activities in/around center Strip for 6-8 people? Camping out at a sports book isn't out of the question, but I'd like to have some other suggestions for the birthday girl, as well. I'm drawing a blank.

TIA,
Other1

There are Superbowl watching parties thrown by some casinos for guests if you have any activity on your Total Rewards card you may have gotten an invite. But that is usually +1 so unless 3-4 people in your group can get the same offer, no luck there.

A lot of bars and casinos have viewing parties and some are likely already sold out. It is usually either a flat fee per person for a food buffet and certain drinks, or they give you a minimum per guest that must be met.

A few years ago we went to Twin Peaks for the Super Bowl and I think their minimum was $100 per person, although it might have been $125. You need reservations for these. They basically have the restaurant closed and then let in the people reserved an hour or two before the game.

I'm going to order some things from amazon and I will be moving around, so which post office is used as general delivery in Las Vegas? I thought it was the one downtown with postal code 89101, but amazon is suggesting 89165. I cannot find the post office with postal code 89165.

You mean you can have stuff sent to any post office and just go pick it up, without having a PO box? I learn something new every day.

I'm staying The Linq for Super Bowl weekend. Are there any rooms better than others that I should try to get? I.E. Location/Size?

I hadn't even heard of zip code 89165. looked it up and it is way up north in the boonies past the LV Motorspeed way. I don't know what post office u can use for general delivery, but I am willing to say for 100% certain it ain't the 89165 zip code.

There are, but the max is 15 minutes, after 16 they hit you for a few bucks.

I don't know if they have them in Vegas yet, but Amazon also has lockers in some cities where you can have your packages delivered.

What's Vegas like on election day? Is it dead because everyone's mind's on things other than gambling, or are there likely to be some good election night parties going on?

Well I believe we have now found the most unique of the "what's Vegas like on ___" questions. I havent been to Vegas on Election Day but if it's much different than any other Tuesday, I would be shocked. Perhaps a bit more stridency than usual from the Tea Party wingnuts at your table.
