Are there others?
Whoops, didn't think about non-US people coming.

AT&T should have the most robust 3G network, but I have no idea if you're able to just get a SIM card and a 1-2 month plan from them, or if you'll get any support using your own hardware.

It's also going to be interesting with all the iPhones and twittering that's going to be going on this summer and if the 3G network will hold up. At South by Southwest this year the coverage in Austin TX was basically killed due to all the iPhone usage. I'd be really surprised if there were any issues though.

Sprint (sprint.com) & T-Mobile (t-mobile.com) are other major carriers.

You can also look at "pay as you go" mobile broadband, which won't require a contract or anything. It looks to be a bit more expensive than a contract plan, about $50-60 per month for "unlimited" bandwidth. However that works out to the same cost as 5 days of hotel internet.

For you only T-mobile or ATT will work as these are the only ones who use SIM cards. Verizon and Sprint, use diff. technology and are not compatible w/ SIM cards.

I'm a swim junkie and I'm looking for a nice pool to actually swim in while I'm in Vegas. A clean, empty 25m lap pool would be ideal. Which hotels should I be looking to stay at?

We might try this in July when we stay at Wynn to upgrade to a parlor suite. Obv we'll put a $100 in btwn the DL and CC.
Do I have any chance of getting a free upgrade from the resort room to the tower sweet if I'm getting the poker rate?

Considering that OP asked "what's a good pool to go to for a swim nut who actually wants to swim?" he sounds fully aware why most go to pools in Vegas.

I have not been in a few years but The Horseshoe had a rooftop pool that was completely deserted the mornings I used it.

There's a Vegas Hotel Pools web site that lists a bunch of the pools and basic information and reviews about each. That may at least help with listing up which hotels have lap pools.

Probably. I've been upgraded to a lakeview suite at the Bellagio with the poker rate for a $20 tip (so I guess it's technically not "free").

No, but I can tell you I've inquired about the same thing at various Strip hotels - Monte Carlo, Bellagio, Caesars Palace. None of the employees at any of the casinos could help me out with any recommendations.

I've found that the early evening hours at the Bellagio pools are fairly sparse; I had to swim around a few lingering groups of people but I was able to swim a little in the big pool.

Heh, in Positivity Fifth Street didn't James McManus write about how he swam laps in this pool every morning while covering the WSOP? Sounds like it might be what the guy is looking for....

So what's the best way to bring about 10k down to vegas (for wsop)? My plan was to get cash at my local bank and fly down there. I told my parents my plan and they've been trying to talk me out of it. If i didn't want to wire the money, would cashiers checks work?

I've never paid any, and I travel semi-regularly. The only drawback to traveler's checks is that they only come in denominations of $100, or at least where I get them, and you have to sign each one in the presence of the teller.

This will be problematic if the withdrawal needs to happen in a short time, even if your deposit is with a cashier's check people get skittish if you try to empty bank accounts within a week or two of opening them.

If Raydain wants to do this, I strongly encourage him/her to be very up front while creating the account. The last thing you want is to get to Vegas and find out there's a 3-week hold on the funds while the cashier's check clears.

hi, im looking to stay in vegas for 9 nights to mainly poker etc and planned on dividing up my stay into blocks of 3 nights each where i move to a different hotel (some form of "change") would be good as im not from the us and dont want to be stuck in the same hotel for 9 nights.

i plan to prebook the first 6 nights 2 weeks in advance before i come, but have not decided where to stay for the last 3 nights (mon to wed). Would i be ok making last minute bookings for week nights (june 29- jul 1)at one of the strip hotels? thanks!

in this economy probably. However its the week of jul 4th, so youre probably more likely to have problems than most other times over the summer.

Regarding dress code in lounges/clubs:

How acceptable are jeans? I'm not much of a club person, but we might take one night to get the vegas feel at a place like Pure/Tryst/etc.

I plan on just bringing some button down shirts / jeans / nice shoes, and really would rather not have to get too dressy.
