All of the dregs of humanity congregate in the Orleans poker room. It's hard to stomach, but does make it that much sweeter whenever you drag a huge pot.

Anyone have an opinion on the 89108 zip code area for renting an apartment? Specifically near N Jones Blvd and W Eugene Ave. Looks like only a mile from the North Las Vegas airport.

Another place I'm interested in is also in 89108, alongside the 95 near West Cheyenne. Gated community with all the amenities.

Any info or opinions greatly appreciated.

89108 is fine. but why? how much is rent up there? i believe you can find a similar quality/price apt in the southwest or spring valley with a lot less traffic

I just liked the look of the places online. I'm in the SF bay area, planning on moving to Las Vegas in Feb or March, staying at least through the WSOP. I didn't realize Spring Valley had less traffic, I assume Summerlin is the same, and I'm told that's a good area too. What do you think of Henderson? I know almost nothing, so any info helps.

As for the prices, they're stunningly low. Looks like you can rent a decent one bedroom place for $700 in gated communities with everything... here in the bay area that would be $3000.

Also, I haven't held a real job in 25 years, does cash speak when renting an apartment in Vegas? With over 11% vacancy rate, I'm guessing they're begging for renters.

Yeah I wouldn't recommend being up there - you're living in Vegas, be closer to stuff. Assuming your "commute" is to the strip you can do way better. If you post sthg about what you're looking for / what this place in 89108 is offering, I'm sure folks can offer suggestions.

thanks,

Yes, I'll be 'commuting' to the strip, and here's the basics I'm looking for;

One bedroom or large studio apt
Covered parking or garage
Gated
Washer/dryer
I assume AC is in every apartment
Private patio or balcony
Swimming pool, sauna, weight room would be good
Safe and quiet
Hope to stay at or under $750, based on what I've seen so far that should be doable. From all the scam stories I've read, I won't be making any arrangements online, I'll pay cash when I'm handed the key in the apartment.

Most legit agencies/owners will require a security deposit and credit check for a multi-month rental. You should be able to waive this if you book on a site like Airbnb, but that will require a credit card or Paypal.

My credit's okay, but I only use a debit card, which always seems acceptable where ever a credit card is called for.

And the deposits they're asking for is so tiny compared to the SF bay area, usually $100 or $200, and they don't even require the last month's rent.

I've been to Vegas a handful of times without ever leaving the strip. I'm interested in driving out to Red Rock Canyon for a bit of trail hiking on my next trip this spring.

My inclination is that my cheapest option is to rent a car from a Strip property car rental location. It's $60+ after taxes from what I can tell through quick searches online. Are there any options I might be overlooking that are cheaper?

I'll be staying at the Mirage, fwiw.

Edit: Just wanted to add that I only anticipate going for 4-5 hours and don't plan to use the car otherwise.

Hello
Going vegas this month
I an trying to find the information of listing the cardroom blind structure with buyins caps.
In my local casino I play mostly 1/3 with $300-$500 buyin so I guess I m looking for something similar to that.
And, if possible give some good card rooms to go to

appreciate a lot.

Pretty decent deal going on at PH, 3 hours of play gets you a free buffet. This can be used for dinners which are usually $34.99. No limit on number of times that you use it, but they also dont advertise it so go to the Total Rewards booth after your session to redeem for the coupon. They must be used within 48 hours of redeeming. There's my helpful tip of the day

Thanks, great info. Do you know how long the buffet deal will last? Also, could you play 6 hours and get 2 passes? Are they transferable?

Buffet deal is for the month of December only. You can play 6 hours however ypu must log out after 3, go collect, then continue your next 3. The dealers are cool with taking you in/out of the system to do this. I'm not sure if they are transferable though, I didnt try.

I did some searching. The 1/2 1/3 game is easy to find 300$ buyin ish game. I was worry about the structure that similar to Los Angeles which is relatively short stack in low limit game.

The 1/3 at Bellagio is $100-$300. Some 1/2 games may have shoter minimum buyins, but I think people usually still buy in for at least $100.

Just thought I'd add that I'm now at Harrah's, and their 1/20 game buyin is also 100-300. Years ago at many places it was $60 or maybe even $40 minimum, but maybe none are that low anymore.

Tipped a dealer pretty decently during a down and he gave me the heads up on the promotion. I then went on to use it all week
