There's normally a few limos waiting near the taxi area at McCarran that you can hop in. The is usually between $40-75 per hour, so you can cruise for a bit before you head to Bellagio.

Hey guys...two quick questions..

What's the cheapest way to tell the cab driver to go to get from McCarran to Planet Hollywood?

Secondly, what are the best clubs on Sunday and Monday nights?

Thanks!

Is it just me or are all the tickets for Cirque du Soleil - Love already soldout?
Anyone seen the Cirque du Soleil - KA ? I see they still have ticks available.

IMO, Ka is phenomenal. Stage cost $165 million. Arrive EARLY. Show is continous so it has a different feel than other Cirque shows. Think of it as Live Anime.

How tough will it be to get into Rehab/Tao Beach/Wet Republic/other beach party? (assuming I am not buying bottle service), there are 3 guys in my group.

Which would you recommend (taking into the account the wait time/likely hood of getting in)?

Thanks

What's the best way from the MGM to the closest Harrah's property with the shuttle (Paris?)? It's at least a mile, so too far to walk in the June/July heat. Monorail? If you have to take a cab, you might as take it to the Rio.

That one I am not sure about. I only know that Harrah' Casino has a shuttle back and forth. Not sure about other properties. Is it really a mile down the strip?

I went to MGM once a long time ago and I remember having to walk forever but that was inside the casino. Is it a longer walk than from the Venetian because I made that walk a bunch of times last year and it was not bad.

Also a little hint if you do use the shuttle. Once you find out where it is there is a HUGE shortcut from street(strip side) instead of walking through the casino.

I am pretty sure the last shuttle from the Rio back is at 1 a.m. btw. You might want to check though.

Is there a good web site that lists all the free shows at the different casinos?

Also, what's the best place to eat at in the RIO for reasonable $$?

It's not even close to a mile - Google Maps shows 0.5 miles. Even in the middle of summer, if you're in decent shape, it's not that bad, and there are places with evaporative coolers in that strip mall where you can stop.

In my experience, the monorail isn't worth the effort. You end up walking a near-equivalent distance because the monorail is set back from Las Vegas Blvd by quite a bit. The MGM walkway is indoors, but the Bally's walkway is outdoors, so you're not saving yourself that much sweat by taking the monorail from MGM to Bally's.

There is a takeout place to the left of the sportsbook with a pretty broad menu. Pizza and burgers...

cal is really good at 2p2.

seriously, there is no way other way to get from paris to MGM without walking. i mean it's not that far and sure it's going to be hot, but there are places to stop along the way to cool off.

i really doubt a taxi would make that trek. i drunkenly stopped a taxi to take me and johnbeans and some girls from bellagio to nyny and he just laughed and drove away and that was during a pretty slow 3:00 a.m.

i promise you'll be fine walking.

i often stay at MGM, LV hilton or Harrahs (once at Imp Palace) and buy a monorail pass for the duration, esp when i stay at LVH. Love it, though the walk is a bit of a pain still. Just beats the **** outta taking cabs IMO.

Walking is nuts, unless you are positively desperate to save twelve bucks.

A taxi doesn't get the option to say "no" if you get in at a hotel.

Sounds like you tried to snag a cab on the street. That's not legal in Vegas. Cabs are not allowed to pick you up on the street. So yeah, if you tried to hail a cab on the strip and then told him you wanted to go 1500 feet, he's not going to risk the fine for a $7 fare.

As for how to make the trek from MGM to Paris/Bally's... If you REALLY don't want to walk and want to be cheap, take the bus. 'Course if there are 3 of you going, it'll be almost as cheap to cab it. Though you should be generous in your tippage to the poor cabbie who drew the short straw and got you after waiting in the line for 15 minutes.

Well the OP is is looking to get to the Rio. MGM to Rio shouldn't be too outrageous of a cab ride. If it's three people it's about the same as the deuce. Getting a cab from MGM to Paris/Bally's to get on a shuttle to the Rio is pretty f'n stupid.

I've walked from the B to MGM, albeit in December, and it wasn't fun, and it's more than 1/2 a mile. From the "front door" of MGM to the "front door" of Paris is 0.7 miles from google maps, plus walking through the properties from your room at MGM to the street, then to the bus area at Paris is close to 1 mile. 3/4 of that is outside.

Is there a viable alternative to paying for the hotel internet service? I was thinking of a mobile broadband card for my notebook. I couldn't find anything when googling.

I think all the carriers have USB modems you can use with your laptop for mobile internet.

http://www.verizonwireless.com/b2c/index.html

Click on Phones & Accessories / Mobile Broadband Devices / Data Cards & Modems

Click on "Laptop Connect Cards" under "By Style" on the left

If you're looking to get wireless in the hotel for free... not sure if that's within the forum rules

Although some wireless routers can piggy back and rebroadcast a wireless signal so if you and a group of people are in the same bank of rooms, one of you can pay once and then all share the same connection.

I already got a 3.5G data modem (UMTS/HSDPA/GPRS).
Can I use it in the US?

If so, I only need a SIM card.

Plans:

Verizon

AT&T

Are there others?
