For anyone who's stayed at a Harrah's property, I've read that they require $100 a day security deposit on your credit card and since I'm staying for 25 days this summer, I'm trying to find out whether they really lock up $2500 on my credit card. I'll obv just call the Rio if no one knows, but I hate dealing with their customer service people, so someone please have an answer. Thanks!

Red Rock is by far the best option for this.

Hi all,

I'm curious about transportation from the airport to the mid-strip area (mirage/IP).

Cabs are of course an option, but look to cost around $15.

How long is the bus trip if I take the 301? For $3, it seems like a deal, but the google calculator is saying it's almost 50 minutes? Is that really true?

Red Rock isn't $29 a night. Before you say something about quality, of course EC isn't as nice as Red Rock. But rooms, being new and all, are just about on par with TI and for $29 a night, hella cheap.

If you need super cheap and have a car, I liked Eastside Cannery. Larger than normal rooms, clean and a bit modern in appearance, fridge in each one, and inexpensive room service. That place is empty on weekdays and you won't feel cramped. Super easy access out the back door to the self park.
How's the poker over there?

Not that good IMO. You need a car. So then you have choice of Sams Town and Boulder Station nearby, or just take the 10-15 minute evening drive to the strip.

I was looking at their map. Freeway looks a lot longer, but I know those surface streets have about a hundred stop lights. Which is better?

Depends on what time of the day and what time of the week it is, and how much you value your time. It can go either way.

All true, but he didn't say anything about cost, so I was just commenting on RR being the best choice for his criteria.

is there a cheap spot next to red rock you can get a room at and walk to? theres a dumpy motel across the street from hard rock that is money for doing such a thing. pay $29 or $39 a night there, its not that bad, and then jsut cross the street to chill at hard rock all day. only thing is you dont get rehab passes or anything, but who cares.

If you don't want to pay a deposit no problem, they just lock off all the pay services.

Trying my comps question here instead of starting a new thread ...

Got comp offer for 3 nights with promo chips at Monte Carlo. First time I ever got an offer. I was going to be in Vegas anyway staying at another place that's paid for, so I want to use the comp offer for the chips. Will the casino mind if I don't stay in their hotel? I won't have any luggage or anything when I check in. Help?

Just show up, get your key to the room and go 'out' for three days. How would they know/care? Just don't spend any time in the room if you don't want to stay there?

Unless you have to gamble x amount in their casino to be eligible for the deal in which case pass obviously

Read the fine print

does the thing/trick with slipping the check in clerk $20+ help in getting a room upgrade?

how much should you offer as a tip?

It works sometimes depending on the hotel and the availability of an upgraded room.

$20 IS the tip.

They have a great sportsbook, but no. It's $40-50 cab ride each way.
