I emailed the Flamingo asking a few general questions including some about room safes, what the alternatives were. I was told that the Flamingo no longer offered deposit boxes and that all hotels within the Caesars group would soon (if not already) be unable to offer such a facility. Obviously not a direct quote but you get the idea.

With that being said, i have finally decided on a combination of taking a few thousand in cash and an extra $1000-$1500 in travellers checks. Im just unsure whether to get checks that in my currency (£) or get them in dollars.

Will there be any difference in charges, processing time etc? Also, lets say i get back to the UK and have some travellers checks left over - can i cash them back in?

Thanks for your help.

If your going to bring travelers cheques. It will be loads easier if you have them in dollars.

I routinely carry $3,000 to $4,000 on me in Las Vegas and around the strip or downtown on the Fremont mall have always felt extremely safe.

Don't be stupid and flash your wad. Keep half of it or more in a money belt or a neck sack if your still uncomfortable.

i always recommend converting cash to large chips b/c they're easier to carry, but people always say they're worried about losing them. i don't have that problem b/c i have pockets that don't have holes.

I have a north face jacket with a zipper breast pocket. I keep ID and BR in the breast pocket, and $37 in a paperclip in my front pants pocket. God forbid I ever get mugged, hand over the $37 yell 'thats all I got!' and run. Only take out BR at the table.

Regardless, as long as you're not stupid there will always be someone within 20' of you at all times in vegas who is flashing a much larger wad than yours who would be the target. Dont worry bro.

A.K.A. neck bag or neck wallet or neck travel wallet or neck passport wallet, etc. (A little bag you hang around your neck and tuck behind your shirt only to get stopped by TSA and made to reveal what that lump is. When you tell or show them you are then escorted to a little room where they have you count the money. Only to discover its under the legal max. At which point they send you on our way. True story. Moral is don't make the lump too visible. )

I want you to know that I googled before I asked and while I learned a new filthy song, I didn't learn what I wanted to know.

Going to google the other terms you listed.

from quick googling, it seems like its exactly what it sounds like... a wallet thats attached to a lanyard that you wear around your neck.

If you want to attach your wallet to your person, id hook it to a belt loop with a douchey wallet chain rather than to my neck with a "neck sack".

two reasons

1. Id rather look like a douche than Mongo the mentally disabled 11th grader who is traveling all by himself for the very first time.

2. Neck sack seems like it would be a tempting target for someone to run by grab and run off.

Well, Google may have worked for you but first hit for me was a My Neck, My Back spoof.

When you travel with a laptop or similar electronic device, I know you have to take that out of the bag if it's not a TSA compliant bag, but what about any peripherals?

Yes, I emailed the TSA some time ago, but haven't gotten an answer so I thought I would ask here.

Take laptop out and put in separate tub. Everything else can stay in bag and go thru in separate tub. Even if your bag is TSA compliant, it is just easier this way.

I just got a reply from the TSA and it is as you say.

For the benefit of others, here is what they said in its entirety.

"Thank you for your e-mail regarding the screening of electronic devices at our
Nation’s airports.

The Transportation Security Administration’s (TSA) screening procedures require
all accessible property be cleared before allowing an individual and his or her
accessible property to enter the sterile area. Full-size laptop computers
(unless in a checkpoint-friendly bag), full-size video game consoles, full-size
DVD players, Continuous Positive Airway Pressure (CPAP) breathing machines, and
video cameras that use cassettes must be removed from their carrying case prior
to x-ray screening.

Smaller, portable electronic items, such as electronic book readers (Kindles,
Nook), portable music devices (Mp3 players, iPods, etc), computer tablets (such
as iPads), and wires, cables, or other connecting equipment associated with such
electronic equipment are not required to be removed from carrying cases.
However, any item may require removal subsequent to x-ray screening if the bag’s
x-ray image appears to display a prohibited item and a Transportation Security
Officer is then required to inspect the bag. TSA procedures do not require
passengers to turn on electronic devices as part of the screening process.

We encourage all travelers to familiarize themselves with TSA Travel Tips prior
to their trip. Our Web site, www.tsa.gov, has information about prohibited and
permitted items, the screening process and procedures, and guidance for special
considerations that may assist them in preparing for air travel. Passengers can
go directly to these tips at
http: www.tsa.gov traveler-information .

We hope this information is helpful.
"

I am glad to see people don't have to turn on laptops and such. I imagine that would slow things way down if they did.

You wear it under your shirt. No one is supposed to see it.

IMO it is better than stuffing something down your pants.

I haven't looked at CET hotels probably 8+ months now, and I just looked into prices for a trip in late June. Holy **** did it get expensive! I'm seeing $50 for mid-week at Quad FFS. Is this just how it is now? I have no activity at a CET property for 4 years so I get no comps or discounts now. It does show my fees total is $0 (I'm platinum via the CC), is that because of my card, or are the fees already factored into the daily rates I see (that would explain some of the high costs I see now).

edit: just answered some of this by comparing to same rates when not signed in. Those are the actual prices, and the $0 fees is due to my card. My avg daily rate is a whopping $3-4 cheaper than rack rate. Jesus.

I read here that they are beginning a major renovation to the quad's rooms to bring it up a bit in price and those prices are already in effect for later on in the year. Highly highly highly doubt its what the dude in the article says, but that could be a factor.

I never book through the TR website without calling first and I was able to save about $150 on a stay for next month by calling instead of just booking what it gave me.

Well the rack rate on Flamingo and Rio during those 7 days are lower than Quad (not by much, but still...), so that guy could be right.

If there is a Cet property near you, just make a quick stop and spend a little in the casino...this has helped lower my rates in the past...once they see activity, you are sure to get offers.....fwiw, I'm a low level gamble, but still get decent offers from most of their properties.Sent from my SPH-D700 using 2+2 Forums

Nearest is 6 hours away. It just sucks cause I used to get even Paris comped 5 days/wk but 4 years idle killed it.

What if you mailed your player's card to a trusted local and paypaled them like $20-$50 or however much to burn on slots or something? Would that generate the activity for a better room offer or does it need to be a lot more?
