I'll help out the Brits with tipping.

Mandatory for decent service (and yes it's ****ing mandatory, shut up cheapskates)-

Restaurant: 15-20% if there's a waiter. No waiter serving you, no tip.

Bar: Tip the bartender or server, $1-2 a drink.

Cocktail waitress in the casino: same as above

Taxi: 15% or so, $2 minimum. Read the longhauling thread before you go though.

Bellman: If you ask for luggage assistance, tip $2-5 when they bring your bags.

Valet: Same as the bellman.

Massage/spa services: tip like a waiter

Optional but really, you should-

Housekeeping. $2-5 a day, leave it out in the open with a note.

Doorman/taxi line guy: If he helps you out. $1-2, maybe more if luggage is involved.

Truly optional-

Any tip jar

Is it really standard for me to tip for MGM food comps? I've never done that, and never even really considered it. I'm really supposed to tip because MGM has an antiquated non-automated comp system that they refuse to bring into the 21st century?

ok, not mandatory. house person hands me a $50 food comp, i am fine tipping a couple of bucks. they have nothing to do with how silly it is they have to print the comp for us. they just have to do it.

how much do you tip for your free meal? at five50, i'm mandatory dropping twenty for the chatty milf bartender.

I tip the servers like normal. Never a chatty milf, unfortunately.

Way wrong person who prints comp gets nothing, zero. Zilch. Don't let maids in your Room ever either.

you don't feel like tipping the house person who prints the comp for your free meal, fine. explain how it is "way wrong" for anyone else to toss the house a couple bucks.

of course, i am the idiot who starts tipping wars at the poker table. so what do i know.

They are not supposed to be tipped. I've never seen one tipped and I'm in one for a comp quite a bit.

In regards to the total rewards card....

The comps i generate when playing poker/blackjack etc can i use these towards my hotel bill when checking out? If it matters im travelling from the UK.

Also, having read every possible topic i can find about it, im still not decided on how to carry my money when in Vegas. Options are to change it up and bring the money in cash before getting on the plane, bring one or two days spending in cash and withdraw the rest at the ATM's, or bring first couple of days in cash and the rest in travellers cheques.

Im talking around $5500-$6000 in total, i know its not a lot by vegas standards, but that does not mean i should not feel happy and secure.

Thanks.

From your earlier posts I still think that's way too much money. Take $3k in cash and I bet you still won't need to touch the majority of it. If it goes to **** then hit the ATMs. Have you looked at how you're going to change $ back to £? This is likely to be the most costly transaction you do.

You can use poker comps on TR card whenever you pay for anything at a CET property, if you've got some left when you check out then they can use them on your bill. Not sure about casino play.

Thanks again djshawk for your advice.

I think i have made my mind up now then to take $2000-$2500 in cash, with the bulk being in $100 notes and see how far that gets me, and withdraw more if and when needed.

The cost of converting dollars back into pounds when i return home is not something im concerned with. The entire cost of this trip including spending money will be classed as spent the moment i touch down in vegas. Returning home with money will be a plus and therefore any hits in terms of fees or exchange rates will be more a reminder of a winning trip rather than an expense.

Thanks again.

Best way to "convert" back to home currency is to spend every last dollar in your pocket on duty-free booze at the airport.

Pretty sure you can convert TR RC's to free play at a $1.50: $1 ratio

Well 'Mericans will line up around the block for a free $4 Grand Slam at Denny's and the Mob Museum is $20, so the estimate of 780,000 people sounds right.

quick questions, sorry I know these questions has probably been asked a ton but I'm short on time right now and this thread has 10,000 posts.

1) I'm looking for a place for me and a friend to stay in Vegas in the $50/night range for weekdays, we're arriving tonight and probably going to stay around a week or two. As close to Strip as possible, on the strip would be the nuts and walking distance (like at most how far the Rio is although obviously not there) would be the 2nd nuts.

2) Are all the 2/5 NLHE+ and PLO games on Bravo?

3) And also anyone want to meet up, PM me a day in advance :P

Thanks!!

Can I use my TR card for Bacchanal? As long as my RC credits still show up online, does that mean that they have not expired? Can't remember the last time I've used it but would be close to 6 months ago.

Btw I'm in town for a few weeks Aesah. I can't meet tonight as I'm having a dinner with my family, but message me on Skype or get my number from Tyler.

Try Gold Coast. Reasonable rooms and a free shuttle. Also across street from rio which has a shuttle to any harrahs property.

Not that I'm an expert but when I was planning my trip Tuscany was a nice, highly 2+2 repped option in your price range. It's about 300 yards from the back door of Bally's so strip walkable.

Marylin's Cafe inside Tuscany also has some really good deals on tasty food.

There are any number of places on the strip that should be in that range: Quad, Flamingo, Harrahs, Excalibur, maybe Bally's and Monte Carlo.

Found a flight from Vegas round trip from Philly for 127 including taxes on spirit. From Feb 25th to March 6th. I had to snap book it just based on the price . Of course spirit is the nut low and it's not including luggage , but I can't pass up that deal on principle alone.
