As it gets warmer, more pools are open later. Some pools have been made into discos, make local inquiries or search.

How it works: You show your room key to someone and grab a towel. If it is the peak of summer you might have to toke a pool boy to get a lounge chair. Some pools have poolside drink and/or food service. Some pools have cabanas you can rent.

Pro tips: Do not drop trou. Do not tease or molest the flamingos.

Short for discothèque. Hip new slang, ya dig.

Things I learned today on 2+2:

1. Online poker will suddenly happen if I don't eat at Bouchon.
2. It is 1968.

Solid day everyone. Good job, good effort. Good hustle.

Disco still sucks. So do hotel pool-clubs with loud music that are filled to capacity with people standing around holding beers and turning the water yellow when all you want to do is swim. Whatever you want to call the music.

Sup guys, can any1 give me info on 'Poker rates' if they exist.

I'm going to Vegas for a month to grind @ Bellagio, (long hours, everyday etc,) and wondering if there's a decent discount available on rooms for playing poker everyday?

If so, would it be worth doing that and getting a room at bellagio... at a 'decent' price after discount,

or just staying somewhere cheap and nearby.

Roll is ~ $10k.

Thanks

Just stay at the flamingo or quad.

I'm hanging out in Vegas for a month or two and just did a bunch of research on something similar. I'm not a grinder and not playing much poker, but this may help you:

Poker rates for major properties

I decided to stay at Candlewood Suites at the corner of Flamingo & Paradise for at least the first month. It's about a mile east of the strip. They have a 30+ day rate that works out to $50/night for a small suite which includes a kitchen and basic kitchen stuff. Not fancy, but clean and quiet. Free wifi, no resort fee, no dealing with security deposit returns, etc. It's about a 15 minute walk to Bellagio, an $8 cab ride, or you can take the 202 bus line for $2 which has a nearby stop and is a direct shot to the NE corner of Bellagio heading down Flamingo.

There are also a lot of VRBO rentals at nicer properties in and around the $2k range. Look on craigslist for MGM Signature at ~$1800. Palms Place was recommended by a bunch of folks here and is around ~$2k/month.

Every hotel with a major poker room offers poker rates. Go to their websites or to allvegaspoker or search here. Doubt you'll get one for a whole month though.

I am bumping this post to prove that I did my due dilligence to search this thread before I asked a couple obvious questions...

What's the 2+2 recommendation on carrying bankroll? I am a Wells Fargo customer and contrary to the post, the nearest WF ATM/bank is about a mile away on Howard Hughes and only open weekday hours. I would prefer not to carry everything I want to play with on me, but ATMs mean withdrawal limits and hitting up a bank not super close seems annoying to do more than once unless I rent a car.

Do hotels have safe places to store teh moniez? I am at the Flamingo.

Ideally, I would have a secure place for all cash I'm planning on having on hand without carrying it all on me all the time. Less ideally, I would either have to carry my roll, be hitting this one bank multiple times, or requesting a change of withdrawal limit on my account and dealing with fees.

Or I suppose I can just never lose and thus not need more than what I feel okay about carrying. This doesn't seem like the most probable plan, though.

I am a total Vegas noob here, so sorry if this is a dumb question.

not sure if flamingo has In room safe, but I usually withdraw all the money i need from the bank before i leave to vegas, and leave it in the hotel room safe, and only keep that days budgeted amount on me.

Flamingo has in room safes. There are threads about how easy they are to break into/compromise. Not just Flamingo, any hotel room safe. But you probably have a better chance of your identity being stolen than your safe being broken into. Just use the safe and don't worry about it.

In room safes are very sketchy to use. Multiple reports of people having them raided by hotel personnel, maids etc. do not ever use them.

I personally keep my roll on me, but mine is not near as big as yours is Chainsaw.

BTW, I gave you a 'sup bro' at the WSOP Choctaw circuit event and you ignored me. I am sad.

If you have a particularly bad experience at a hotel you can be a huge douche and lock them on your way out. I've never done it but it's definitely in my range.

Yeah, I'm looking to not use a hotel safe if possible. I suppose I could roll super old school and get traveler's checks.

Have any of you actually had an issue with the in room safe?? Or just your friends cousins brother in law knows a guy who had his money stolen by the maid?

I keep 5k+ in the safe every trip and have never thought twice about it

I've never had an issue with using a room safe, but I don't have many valuables. I also didn't have trouble keeping loose change out in plain sight. The fiancee and I play slots and when we'd cash out we'd have change which I would put in one of the glasses back in the room.

They don't want to break into the safe.

It's a pretty easy target, but maybe they are leaving it alone because they don't know if I counted it or not before putting in the glass. I don't count it though. I just dump it in there until the night before we leave and then go to the cage to get some bills.

1. They aren't taking your loose change because they don't know if you have counted it, and would therefore be able to spring into action and catch them, making it not worth the risk.

2. They aren't taking your loose change, because it's loose change and they have a job.

It has to be #1, right?

I said maybe. I didn't say definitely.
