Any pro tips for 4th of July fireworks viewing either downtown or strip? I'm only finding Caesar's Palace fireworks through initial Youtube research.

Was researching fireworks over at VMB, and it seems like nbd in Vegas unless its a Friday or Saturday. I decided to just book ate trace suite with a fountain view at Cosmo and get drunk enough to convince myself that it counts.

Guessing you can find a decent spot off strip if you have a car tho

Yeah, it seems like it will be a small showing being a Thursday this year. Oh well. I'll have my car but I plan to have a .15 BAC around the time they fire them off so it'll stay in the valet.

If they're doing a show on the strip (they don't every year) you will have a good enough view from anywhere on the strip. I watched from out front of the Venetian once.

I've never been able to get a room at Casino Royale cheaper than IP (Quad), Bally's, Flamingo, etc. I've looked a handful of times, it was never close to the promotions being offered through TR, so I stopped wasting my time.

The Quad definitely looks like the cheapest of those close to the Venetian. Also has the worst reviews, but I don't plan to do anything but sleep in my room anyway.

if you're the kind of person who wants a dorm room type room instead of a hotel room, then the quad is the best price/location combo

What do you mean by this, exactly? No-frills lodging, or people are going to be putting shampoo on the hallway floor and sliding down it with innertubes?

No, not exactly dorm; the only difficulties I've heard of with the Quad is the elevators-this has kept me away. Someone might be able to explain the problem again.

just that it's a basically a crappy motel in the middle of the strip. haven't witnessed hallway sliding, but i really wish i would have.

and i'll second the elevator thing. they can be busy. ask for a low floor and take the stairs down.

I can confirm that elevators are shockingly bad. You will wait forever, and when an elevator finally comes there is a >60% chance the elevator will be too full for you to get on. Even though you end up in a maze, it's worth it to walk to the elevators in the middle of the towers rather than take the main elevators.

From Bellagio, quickest/easiest way to and from Rio if making the trip often? Free Harrah's shuttle (or is there one closer)? Map makes it seem back of Bellagio really close to Rio--very cheap cab, maybe? Thanks!

Agree with the don't walk.

Back in '05 we stayed at Monte Carlo during the first week the WSOP was at Rio. We would tram it to Bellagio and go out the side valet and walk to Rio. Even that close, it was still a 30 minute walk.

What's the best dinner buffet these days? Bacchanal, Wynn, wicked spoon? Mostly saying dinner to avoid sterling suggestions.

I still think Wicked Spoon's the best, but I like its style a lot and it's razor thin between it and Bacchanal with Wynn close behind.

This is an lol vegetarian giving you advice though, but I'm also incorporating responses from a lot of dudes and a few lucky chicks who have dined with me.
