Don't some banks have relatively small (<$1k, maybe even less?) daily withdrawal limits? I know mine does, so when I'm heading to LV, I have to call them and have them lift the limit.

Yes. I purposely even make it smaller around $500/day in case my card and passcode are stolen or observed. But I have a phone number with me to call and have it temporarily lifted when necessary. I would think setting the limit at 2 buy-ins would work fine.

Regarding the suggestion of wells fargo bank, there is one inside of the airport ready for when you arrive or depart.

Withdrawing and depositing no more than 10k a day won't draw and suspicious activity or cause for any forms for the teller to fill out.

As a former employee of wells fargo and long time account holder, I recommend them.

One thing to keep in mind is you can call Wells Fargo and have them increase your maximum daily withdrawal, but the upper limit is limited to your current account balance when you call. I switched to Chase a while ago but, Wells Fargo is great for Vegas between the airport branch and the ATM outside Harrah's.

As a former long time account holder of Wells Fargo, I and many of my friends think it is the worst financial institution around. Had nothing but terrible experiences with them. Much happier at BofA.

YMMV

From experience, I would assume it would be because of how the district was run, coming from the bay area, where WFB is based, I have seen more efficient customer service and younger more attractive employees (made waiting in line a little better)

I too bank at BOFA, but have found a lack of urgency when processing my transactions due in part that in my area, it is mainly older women who work at the bofas.

I've had Wells Fargo and BofA, and arguing about which is better is like arguing whether it's better to eat dog **** for dinner or horse ****.

Let's say you don't have health insurance and have $ten-thousands of medical bills you can't afford to pay, so the hospital takes you to court and gets a judgement against you. They now can present a bank with a court order that forces your bank to hand your account over to them.

I know someone who basically cannot have a bank account because every time he opens one, his creditors find it and empty it (not sure how they find the accounts, but they do). They'd be garnishing his wages if he had any, but being self-employed makes that hard for 'em. He just figured ignoring the summonses and letting the creditors have default judgments would be cheaper and definitely easier than doing bankruptcy.

For ATM wd's yes. For point of sale WD's on your ATM card, its usually 2.5K at least.

You can make a POS withdrawal on your atm card at almost any bank. Simply go in with your atm card and ID and say "I would like to take an advance on my credit card"... I know for a fact that almost all US bank and BOA will do this for you no charge even if you do not have an account there. To find out how much you can take out this way per day, call your bank and ask what the POS transaction limit on your atm card is.

Specifically, I used to do this all the time at the US bank on flamingo right in front of the meridian (2 blocks off the strip).

Although the bank won't charge for the cash advance on a credit card, the credit card company (ie: visa, MasterCard) will charge a fee, usually a percentage of the amount that is advanced.

The gvr buffet is like $8 for card holders and has a nice salad bar plus lots of other stuff. Also m has a totally free buffet daily if you earn a very small number of points on your players card. Excellent healthy choices there.

Cheesecake Factory in Forum Shops. Grand Lux in Venetian. May end up being $13, or so, but maybe with lunch specials you'll get it for $10.

Every time you open a bank account, or rent a bank safety deposit box, your name is run through Equifax Name Verification, so it's trivial for Your Friend's creditors to subpoena Equifax and thus easily find the accounts. Your Friend Is An Idiot if he hasn't already consulted a bankruptcy lawyer.
