You can walk across the street next to palms on the opposite side of the street is a self service laundromat. One load about $3. Its across from palms place on the opposite side of street. Maybe a five minute walk from rio.

Can someone recommend a good place for my wife and I to have after dinner drinks?

Ideally a bar with a good upbeat vibe but a club is acceptable. We'd like a nice view, music that isn't so loud as to prevent conversation, and a low trash factor i.e. no obvious hookers, no eurotrash, etc.

So far we're considering the Mandarin Oriental's top floor bar and Voodoo Lounge at Rio (thoughts?). Others?

Bond at Cosmo might be a bit loud (and seemingly full of hookers...higher class than average I guess) but its a fun nice time (closer to a club scene then a nice relaxing drink).

Mandarin Oriental would be perfect. Consider Mix at Mandalay Bay as well, the view is amazing.

Saw Jamie Gold playing $2/$5 at Planet Hollywood a few days ago.

Has he really spewed off that much money in the last 6 years that he can't play any higher then $2/$5 these days?

I doubt Jamie Gold's backers or the IRS got any of his main event money

I read advice in Esquire magazine many years ago that said the only time a man should touch jean shorts is when he is removing them from a woman.

On the other hand maybe he has so much money, that he need not play higher than $2/$5. It is not like this is how he makes his living. He could just be playing for fun.

I suppose this is also possible. It's hard to believe he has really spewed off 12 million in 6 years (much less if he did pay backers and IRS obv,) plus whatever other money he has made from other ventures in that time.

But he comes across as one of those guys that gets a bit of a rush putting the money on the line and gambling, therefor I'd expect him to only enjoy it if the money he was playing for actually mattered to him.

But I could be wrong about that, of course.

To me he comes across as one of those guys that likes to mess with other players minds. He gets his rush from getting under another players skin and using psychology to get them to do as he (Jamie) pleases. I don't think he cares at all about the money.

Yeah just because someone is playing X stakes doesn't mean they can't afford to play >X stakes. There could be several reasons why someone plays lower than the highest stakes they can afford.

Yeah very good call Allen, thanks. It didn't show up on Google maps or anything, so I was about to do $75 worth of 500% markup hotel laundry.

I've probably recommended this laundry place at least 5 times in the past on 2+2, Auntee M's Market, 4275 Arville St # A, https://maps.google.com/maps?hl=en

I stopped there to get some cigs the other night on the way to the Palms, me and my friend saw 4 guys just chillin by the door, they were hitting on the girls coming out of the pole dancing school right across the parking lot.

Anyone needing to do laundry could probably just walk/drive to any apartment complex by their hotel and use the laundry room there.
