Thanks for all your help. The Flamingo comes in at about the same price as the Luxor and the Monte Carlo, and about $100 cheaper than the Mirage for the week. I figured that the walk was a little farther than it looked on Google.

Good note regarding the Phantom, wasn't aware of that difference.

Yeah, The Signature is about $400-$500 more expensive than the others. Plus, it is a little more out of the way, right? (i.e. not as centralized on the Strip). How does the Mirage compare to The Signature?

Thanks for the replies already, anybody else with good information feel free to pitch in. We will take all the help we can get.

micro,

Mirage is best location in regards to Venetian and Wynn. Flamingo probably has a nicer pool. Either will suit your needs. Stay away from Luxor and Monte Carlo. You will spend any savings on cab fares.

I spent 9 nights at the Signature during this Vegas trip, and it was great. I actually preferred not being inside a casino hotel because it was nice & quiet. The room was fantastic. Very comfortable bed. Full kitchen. Large living area. 1600 for 9 nights. Way better value than any typical strip casino hotel.

The Signature is attached to the MGM Grand via an indoor walkway. It took me 5 minutes to get from my room to the casino floor.

I stayed at the signature for for a weekend and it was very nice! The walk to the pokerroom was not TOO bad since they had moving walkways to get over to the MGM casino. Beds were really comfy and it has all the amenities you could ask for.

I promised a friend that I bring her caramel flavored coffee but I can't find any on the Strip. Starbucks doesnt have it, neither does "The Coffee House" or any of the other coffee shops. I was advised I should try a supermarket. I already checked Walgreens without success. Are there any Wal-Marts, Targets or the like close to the strip?

I saw a couple people ask about low limit table games so I thought I would throw out this gem in case people don't know about it. The Bellagio has at least one $5 blackjack table at all times. As you enter the casino from the lobby, there's a bank of BJ tables on your right (across from Petrossian Bar). Directly BEHIND the very first table, there's a low handicap access table (I think there's one of those Big Wheel type games on the end of the aisle, just walk around there). This table is always $5 - my guess is some ADA lawsuit threat or something. Two of the 6 spots are reversed for wheelchairs, and the other spots are often crowded, but it's there.

I'm fairly certain I saw another, similar table in an identical location in another bank of BJ tables further along the casino (heading in the general direction of the Shops). I can't pinpoint the location, but i think it was just past the craps tables. Anyway, The place isn't *that* big I'm sure you can find it look around a bit.

Thanks for the tip.

Does anyone know any supermarket that is closer?

3.6 miles from the south end of the strip isn't exactly walking distance.

Where are you staying at on the strip? That would help.

I'm making my first trip out to LV to gamble next month (been there a bunch before turning 21 though). Me and my dad always stay at the MGM Grand, I plan on playing at least one of their 2 daily tournaments and maybe some time at a 1/2 table. Can anyone comment on the general level of play there, I heard from a friend it was a bit softer than average for the strip

And you can get tickets from the Tix4Tonight booth for 25% or so off for Phantom, and 50% off for Blue Man

Just booked a package and I leave with my girlfriend tomorrow (Wednesday-Saturday). Some questions:

1) Best way to get into a good club? Ideally some little known secret way, before the bottle service or doorman tipping route.

2) One restaurant suggestion.

1) If you don't want to pay for a table or tip like crazy I'd suggest getting in line EARLY!

2) Sounds crazy, but if you want to check out old vegas and get a good meal, try Nic & Anthony's steakhouse in the Golden Nugget downtown. I eat there almost every Vegas trip and love it, plus you can walk across the street and play really cheap craps/blackjack. And if you're REALLY up to it, after dinner you can go grab a deep fried snickers or twinkie to go with your expensive steak you just ate

My gf and I want to go to one of the shows. Would it be best to get tickets before hand or just wait and get them when we get there. Also, when staying at a hotel, do they give you passes to nightclubs in the hotel??

For the trick on room upgrades, we've got reservations at MGM and then the Wynn. Is this trick likely to work at either of these places, and what is a suggested denomination for an upgrade.

The bill is folded and passed between the driver's license and credit card?

thanks

lot of different tournament series going on, something for every bankroll. you can play one every day if you want. cash games are good everywhere, higher limit ones at Bellagio and Wynn.

I'd recommend checking out at least one of the cirque shows.

Food here is just amazing, and there is a ton of variety of very high quality dining. Try a type of cuisine you have never had before. There are a lot of expensive places that are just awesome, but plenty of local places which are much cheaper, and also very good- especially if you like asian food. Some of my favorite places are Prime, Tao, and China Grill...china grill and tao are both great places for groups of 4+ as food is shared.

If your on the strip its actually pretty safe to walk around with money(too many people for anything bad to happen, same in casinos + security cameras all over) I def wouldn't be doing it in downtown(north LV) tho. If your going to be playing some events then wire money to the Rio, then just take out whatever you need each time.

How would I get the room upgrades tip trick to work for a 9-day stay in the Mirage or Caesars? Assume booking a twin bed standard room, but wanting something nicer.

$20 seems to get success for a weekend stay in some hotels, how about 9 days in the Mirage? $50? $100?

Since some people questioned about it, Front Desk Tip. I believe it's been mentioned in this thread already (possibly by me), but it deserves repeat mention.
