Against the rules in any casino I've ever been in. You may get away with it though.

Ever been to the WSOP? There are signs on the walls that say photography is just fine and dandy with them. However, no flashes, and no videos are allowed.

It's not universal that photography in the casino is a problem. A few casinos do actually have signs posted that explicitly state NO PHOTOGRAPHY ALLOWED. I've seen such signs at Luxor and in the basement food court at Bally's (but not in the casino, oddly).

Most places they just want you to behave. No flashes, don't target celebs at the craps table, don't be annoying. If you want to take a photo of the glass sculpture on the ceiling at Bellagio, go for it. Nobody will stop you. If you want to go pull Phil Ivey from the craps table and stand next to him while he holds bricks of cash while your friend snaps photos, go away.

Of course, sometimes things don't go well even if you are just taking photos of pretty things. http://www.lvrj.com/business/41647727.html

I thought photographing players at the WSOP is not allowed, because they sold the rights to all player fotos to fanphotos.com (or whatever they are called)?

FWIW, at Bellagio people fotograph all the time, everywhere in the casino. If someone takes pictures of the poker room or people in it, dealers tell them to stop. I've never seen anything else happen about this.

This, pretty much.

I took a bunch of pictures with a group of Japanese players all sitting at the same baccarat table pretty much to ourselves. A pit boss was hovering nearby so I asked if it would be all right to take some photos of our group. She hesitatingly agreed, and I offered to show her any photos I took for approval.

Our group was having a good time and took a liking to one of the dealers who was getting along well with them, and wanted some photos of him as well. Again, I asked the pit boss - if the dealer had no problem with it and if the pictures did not include the dealer's chip rack, no issues.

And yes, the US border folks can simply turn away anyone they don't like the looks of, and they apparently do it pretty often. They don't have to give a reason, either. So if they find you have $9998.47 on you, while they can't seize the funds, they can send you home if they think you're gaming the system.

I was told a tale the other day of a guy who won a WSOP $10K seat in a Euro event a couple years ago. He came to the US to play and was turned around at the airport without reason--simply put on the next plane back to Europe. He told the Harrah's people about it and they converted his $10K seat into an entry for the next year. He went through the tourist visa application process 12 mo later, was approved, showed up in the US, and was again denied entry and sent home, again without explanation. Harrah's said "tough" and pocketed the $10K entry fee. And this guy still has no idea why the US won't let him in.

Don't mess with US customs and immigration if you really want to visit the US. They pretty much have dictatorial authority
no problem.. I'll carry 8k and my gf carries 4k. Problem solved.

You ask your gf to commit a crime, because you're too lazy too do a little paperwork? That's low, even for 2+2 standards.

Isn't it legal?
Also, I agree on not messing with the U.S. customs. They really do try to break my ballz everytime I enter lol(I enter from Toronto.)

Common sense should tell you that it's obv not legal, to ask another person to carry cash for you to avoid declaring it.

I don't intent to go to Vegas and watch loads of t.v, but Wimbledon tennis is on and I was hoping I could record some matches and/or highlights to watch before I go to sleep.
Just wanted to give this a bump to see if anyone knows anything about this.

I know americans have tivo (or whatever it is). Is this standard on all tvs?

No, not in hotel rooms. It's a feature that people can typically pay $5-10/mo for from their cable company, or they can purchase their own hardware. And TiVo is a brand name; the generic term is DVR (digital video record(er/ing)).

I can think of three options.
  1. Call the hotel and ask what they can do for you.
  2. Go to or call a rent-a-center and rent a DVR (or VCR). I Googled "rent-a-center Las Vegas" and found a few possibilities. I'd talk to the Hotel concierge and see what they can do/recommend.
  3. Go to Wal-mart, buy a DVR (or VCR). Carefully open the box and save all the packing material and your receipt. Return the DVR (or VCR) to Wal-mart as unwanted and get your money back. Sleazy yes, but people do this.

If you like beers, try Yard House. Large selection of draft beers and pretty good food in my experience.

Thank you.
I'm not really up with technology these days and didnt realise it was something you could just plug into the tv.
I think I will go for option 2. Thanks again.

Its a box that goes between the signal in (probably cable) and the TV.
The problem will be can you get to the cable. It will be easy in a cheap
hotel and may be made difficult in a fancy hotel. I would definitely call
the hotel and ask them what to do. They may have a simple solution, i.e.
put in and hook up a box in your room for you. It really can't hurt to ask.
