I'd take Westgate for the same money and the walk in minimal

Both easily walking distance if the weather is not to hot.

great day to go look at the head up tourni, not a lot of people there watching unless you count all the top pros walking around. I saw a lot of faces we'd all recognize.
Thanks for the effort!!!

It's called Wizard of Suds. It's not in the best neighborhood or the newest facility but me and my friend did our laundry there a few years ago when our machine busted and it was fine.
It's at most a 10 minute walk from RIO/GC and about a 2 minute drive. Here's a link:

There is a Food 4 Less on the corner of Flamingo and Decatur. Go west on Flamingo, pass through the intersection at Decatur and it is immidiately on the right.

Thanks also!!!

But if you drive, there's a place called Magic Wash at the SW corner of Charleston and Decatur, and there's a Super Walmart and a Lowes right across Decatur, a CVS right across Charleston, and a bunch of restaurants and/or cafes (maybe like a Jamba Juice or something) in the Walmart/Lowes shopping center.

The laundromat is also pretty good. It has tons of machines, a bunch of TVs, and maybe an arcade game or something. I don't exactly remember.
So even at night its too hot???

Also anyone know where I can safely play some pickup bball game??

I don't think I'm walking west for a mile from the Rio along Flamingo with a bag/basket of laundry after it's dark.

check out the PH westgate

http://www.phtowers.com/accommodatio...mmodations.asp

the two bedrooms look to be about 400 a night, but the "1 Bedroom King Suite" will probably be all you need for two occupants to have a little privacy. don't think u can earn any comps towards your room directly through the casino though. but once you're diamond, I think you can just get harrah's concierge to reimburse you

it's not that bad... it's not the red carpet at the taj mahal but I wouldn't any concerns about walking down to decatur as long as you keep your wits about you.

try doing your laundry at 5 in the morning if you really are that concerned.

Whats going on in Vegas over the June 24th weekend that would make hotel rates much higher than pretty much any other time during the summer? Hotel rates and flights seem to be alot more expensive that weekend, so I figure something big must be going on

You could run, and take care of your workout needs at the same time.

To answer the other guy, when summer in Vegas gets a full head of steam, it's 90 degrees F at midnight. It's gorgeous right now, though.

I bet you could talk on of the girl's bartenders at TGI Friday's into doing it. Or they'd give you a pointer to someone that would.

No it is not. It doesn't matter if you believe the MM is actually a mile or not. I don't, but it's irrelevant. From westgate to casino is not half of the mm.

all of these high-end strip burger places, they just aren't that great. half of the time the fries come out luke warm (indicating they are not cooked to order) and the burgers are often overcooked. they are just not worth the money. these places are meant to take advantage of the unsuspecting tourists who walk by hungry.

the chefs at burger bar et al are putting in about as much effort (or maybe less) than the people cooking up burgers at in-and-out.

KGB burger (simon's place) sucks horribly and is near the bottom of the totem pole. they have captain crunch milkshakes, though

Augie I thought we all agreed you're not allowed to talk about food, ever.

http://forumserver.twoplustwo.com/10...011-a-1026115/ maybe

if not some random convention thats big enough to spike rates but not big enough or anyone to really care about. Or maybe that and a couple smaller conventions that together are significant enough to impact rates.

I'm going to be playing in a little private poker tournament at the Monte Carlo on June 25. BestofVegas.com wants to charge me $300 for two nights the 24th and the 25th. Does that sound about right? Is this an MGM property? I have a players card there though I haven't been to vegas for years so I don't know if that should do me any good. Can you suggest a different website that might be better?

I'll have a car so I don't have to stay at the Monte Carlo, but my preference is not to do too much driving around. But If there is someplace next door or so that you think is betteer and cheaper I'd love to hear about it. Thanks for any help.

I just checked my MLife rate calendar for those 2 days and it is showing $202 and $247! I have never seen rates that high for MC and I have a platinum MLife card.

Not sure what's going on that weekend, but rates are high at all MGM Resorts properties during that time.

Ya I thought the rates were waaaay higher than normal at all the hotels that weekend. Even the lower rate harrahs properties like imperial and flamingo are really high that weekend. That weekend alone is gonna cost me about as much as the other 24 days of my trip combined

If you're going to be there for 24 more days and have a car, I'd say look for a random motel way off-strip, like a Comfort Inn in Henderson or something.

It doesn't even have to be that far away... Kayak is showing the La Quinta Inn on 3970 Paradise for $69/night on those dates. It's not next door, but not that bad a drive and you can valet park and tip the guy a few bucks and still save significant money.
