1 week in Vegas in March. Probably staying at Circus Circus. How is it?

I play limit up to 10/20 and/ or up to 2/5 NL, so small stakes. Which casinos should I visit? Please list some in order of your preference and a few reasons. About food I have found some good threads here.

Anything else apart from poker, walking down the strip, downtown (I don't gamble on anything else) I have to do/ see? Is leaving the city to see the desert worth it?

Thank you!

thing is I am going with a friend who isn't a poker player and his parents go there too, they pay for him cause he has little money. So he suggested that we share a room there since I do not plan to stay very long in the room during the one week stay I agreed.

Or is it so terrible that I should seriously reconsider?

If you can answer the other questions that would be great.

If you want dirt cheap and will not be in the room except to sleep a few hours and dont need any hotel amenities, the Imperial Palace will do the job. Location is excellent especially if you are playing the pokers.

cheapest I can get is circus circus for the reasons mentioned above. And I do not need to do any booking this way. So if you do not say it is a 3rd world experience it should be fine.

More advice?

It's not the oldest, it probably just feels like it is. Well, probably next to the Sahara. That one looks and smells like it was built during the Civil War.

OP, if you haven't seen the desert before, it probably is. You won't have to go far - if it isn't paved, it's desert. If you really want to see the desert, drive to Death Valley. It's probably the best time of year to be there.

thanks - you mean Imperial Palace?

I am 21 from Germany, yes I party but I do not know my buddy I am going with is not the type for expensive clubs. Shows? I don't know never really seen one.

Grand Canyon seems to far away for loleurope standards. Is renting a car an option at my age? How much is it?

Should I go to the top of stratosphere tower? Probably right?

I don't know how I should imagine my stay, so you think I need to plan alot of stuff to do? Or should I just explore the strip and then downtown, or should I stay a way from downtown entirely?

Death Valley sounds interesting too.

Cheapest by how much? Doubt it's more than $10-20 a night cheaper than a better-located utter ******** like Imperial Palace. And make no mistake, Circus Circus is an utter ********.

sounds bad, will try to sort it out. I do not really want to stay alone, so if they already booked there is probably no going back.

it is so cheap for mebecause I share the room and maybe do not have to pay at all.

as to walking distance: I am a pretty good walker.

circus circus is just really far away from anything else in las vegas. when people talk about las vegas, they're referring to the las vegas strip, which is a roughly 3km long stretch. circus circus is an entire 1.5km north of the northernmost hotel on the strip (wynn/encore). that doesn't sound like much, but trust me, it is in las vegas. it's desert, it's a bad area, there's literally nothing between circus circus and the wynn, and you'll be doing a TON of walking already. after drinking/gambling all night on the strip you won't want to deal with getting yourself back to circus circu.

you'll end up spending more on cab rides just to get places from circus circus than you will save by staying there. and yes, you can take a bus for cheap, but that sucks as well.

if money is an issue, stay in the imperial palace. it's actually a little bit nicer inside than circus circus and it is right in the middle of everything. if they booked circus circus through the hotel, it's really easy to call and cancel and book something else. if it's part of a package, then yeah it might be a little harder but i'd look into it anyway.

You pay ~500-600€ for the flight from Germany I assume, so don't try to save 100-200€ on the hotel.

Walking from Circus Circus to somewhere central strip like Bellagio is prolly around 4km, which can take longer at day because the Strip is often crowded and at night I wouldn't feel 100% comfortable carrying large amounts of cash between fashion show mall and Circus Circus.

The only thing good downtown is the cab stand to take you back to the Strip, and I think Circus Circus has one of those as well.

There might be something good (I have no idea what it is) but it's a long way from everything else good.

Circus Circus is probably not as bad as everyone says. I haven't been there in 10 or 15 years. From the description of your setup, you are probably just fine staying there. It's not a really long walk to Encore or the Wynn, and a taxi is easy to get.

You will be able to rent a car but it will be more difficult because you are under 25. Search for other threads about how to do it.

You don't have to plan your activities that much. Most things don't run on a schedule except for shows. If you've never seen desert you should probably explore it a little. The Grand Canyon is a full day's trip because it's about 300 miles away. Death Valley is a lot closer but it's still a couple hours drive. There is "ordinary" desert in Red Rock Canyon about half an hour from town.

CC wasn't that bad where I stayed for the series. Especially for someone with other priorities than a luxurious room and to focus on playing cards. The walking distance was not bad at all. If you can't walk a mile or mile n half, that is more personal and healthy issues I won't get into. If your there to party and be a tourist it obviously is a poor choice. But to each there own. Walking back from the MGM to CC being drunk wasn't even that bad.

yes imperial palace, look at the rates online compared with caesers which is across the street

21 y/o in vegas, you gotta hit the clubs man! get lit before hitting the clubs if your friends busto

google search the shows on in vegas, if any are your thing and no chance of the same in germany then do it!

top of the strat is good, do you like themeparks? check the rides out. the view at the top is pretty good but imo a sicker view is from moon nightclub at the palms, more women there too..............................

look into things you wana do and do them bro, if you wana check out each and every casino then do so, the casinos/hotels are HUGE, probs bigger than u imagin, if you get lost and cant find the exit to the strip (most casinos do not have signs for lv blvd...wonder why huh?) ask an employee nearlest way to strip

finally...

LOL at this statement, I cant imagine walking from MGM to CC drunk - You have to be talking about an hour to make this walk, not to mention being drunk and in the desert, sounds so ****ing exciting doesnt it?

Why would I lie about it? I got one of the Mexican's shirts even. Heck, I even ran 3 miles each way in mid day heat to the 24 hour fitness down West Sahara 3 times a week, but I am use to 100 degree heat with 100% humidity living in Florida. I am not saying its for everyone, but its sure is not as bad as everyone makes it out to be. My friend and I even walked back from downtown at 4am drunk after a couple local Mexican guys we met payed for our 20$ drink minimums at one of the ranchy strip clubs.

Probably not a fan of the walk we took the first day we checked in. We walked down the strip from CC all the way to NYNY then down Tropicana to behind all the casinos. Then walked to the Rio and in between the industrial area back to Sahara in the middle of the summer heat. But I've walked 36 holes of golf in Florida quite often, so this was quite easy.

But my priorities were a lot different. The OP said he is going to play cards and is offered a free room. Why not take up the offer, CC is just like a regular hotel/motel you'd find in a lot of places. Use the money you save on other fun experiences.

but even if you dont mind it, do you really want to be walking for hours everyday while on vacation?

Walking up or down the strip for miles while casino hopping is great, but when you want to go directly to a particular place a cab is so much quicker = more time at the tables, partying. I walked to the Rio from the strip once in 100 degree heat. I will NEVER make that walk ever again, its like walking along the highway and there is nothing to see and cabs are so cheap.

For your first time in Vegas stay center strip if you can. Also, the buildings are soooo ginormous , they always look much closer than they actually are. What looks like a 10 min walk could be 45min.

Taking a taxi once a day makes circus circus prolly more expensive than IP.

No way to see something like the Blue Man Group or Cirque du Soleil in a 3rd world country like Germany.
