From what I could tell, MGM Signature is VERY nice, great rooms, and highly rated on tripadvisor. If I were going there w/ my wife, it'd probably be in my top 3, and quite possibly #1.

If I were going there by myself, I would probably be more apt to choose something a little younger/closer. It seemed even getting to the MGM from sinature is a bit of a trek.. and it's very quiet and maure at the signature.

obv i haven't stayed there, so feel free to shoot this down or just take it for what it's worth. It's def an awesome hotel.
The Signature rooms are nice, but it is a hotel that is close to a casino. It's not a casino-hotel like the MGM. They have room service and some other things but it's a long walk to the MGM casino, even taking into account the moving walkways. If you need a cab, there might not be one right out front like most casinos. If you drive, you must give your car to the valet, no self-parking. It's a nice, quiet place, but somewhat inconvenient.

I am still undecided about where to stay in Vegas.
Right now I have reservations at Imperial Palace which is $2500 for 32 nights.
I had pretty much decided to change this to the Flamingo ($3500/32 nights) when I read the comments about the Signature. I remembered having seen offers that are in the same price range as the Flamingo. The best offer I have right now is $3000 plus $50 for maid service a day (on demand).
I am sure the Signature is much nicer and more spacious than the Flamingo. On the other hand the Flamingo is at the center of the strip and I can walk over to the Harrah's and catch a shuttle to the RIO.

Louis,

I assume you aren't renting a car (you mentioned the shuttle) so saving $10-$20 a day in cabfare over a one month will add up. If someplace else Mid-Strip like Mirage or Planet Hollywood or Paris can't beat Flamingo, then I'd stay at Flamingo. Its pool gets great reviews (I've walked by it and it looked very nice) and your GF will probably like being close tot eh Miracle Mile mall and Fashion Square Mall isn't a horrible walk either.

The MGM Signature is a collection of (I think 3) condotel buildings attached via indoor walkway to the MGM Grand. I'm also staying here during my stay. A condotel is basically a condo which someone actually owns, but when they aren't occupying the space they release it to the building management company who adds it to a pool of rental spaces. The theory from a renter's perspective is that you get a much higher quality space than you can get from a normal hotel for a much lower price. This will be my first time in a condotel however, so I don't know if this is actually true.

Call the poker room, tell them what you're planning, and see if you can work out a poker rate. Explain that you probably can't play there 6 hours every day, but you will be playing cash games a lot, and enter a few Deepstack events. They may be able to get you their poker rate for the whole stay. They are good folks there.

Yes, that's it. It's about halfway between a real home and a hotel.

If it were me staying that long, I would find a vacation condo and rent a car. You cannot take a cab twice for less than it costs to rent a car for that day. Unless you never go anwhere except on foot, a car is cheaper. The condo will have things you take for granted, but don't have in hotels, like a washing machine and a freezer of decent size. Those little things add up when you're staying for a month.

Oh Noes, I just booked it online before seeing this!

Maybe i'll call em anyways, although I doubt they will negotiate since I already booked.

I will be playing 6+hours a day often there in the largest nl games they are spreading (10/20 i hope??)

Regarding Venetian booking, arent most hotel bookings cancellable with 3-4 days notice... your amount of poke rplay should easily get you the poker rate. Poker room is great, drink service is EXCELLENT, hotel seems awesome, and the hotties really start flowing out of tao around 1:30 [and coming down the escalator, right outside the poker room, ahah].

Regarding Flaming, staye dthere about a month ago [then switch to mgm]. Flamingo did have a pool that far exceeded what i was expecting.. your gf would be happy.

any one know anything about disposable cell phones? I'm thinking about getting one instead of paying like $600 for two months worth of roaming charges...

orbitz cites usair as having round trip for 533 bucks as a nonstop for 6/19-6/24. I would suggest booking through the airline though.

just call them to get the wire information, go to your bank to process it, and make sure to include your name and player number [if you've played before] as a note with the wire, and your DOB and passport number if you haven't

If you own a car and really want to save money, driving to buffalo will probably save you a few hundo (though with gas prices I'm not so sure). When I fly in for the Niagara WPT it's always way cheaper to go to Buffalo.
