Greetings,

Canadian here looking to book Vegas for Friday Sept 13 until Wednesday the 18th.

I've been once before on a tighter budget with my ex and stayed at the LINQ in February.

Basically what I'm getting at is I'm willing to splurge a bit more. I'm not sure if the online algorithms are taking advantage of me on the package deals.. I seem to be saving a crap ton by booking flight and hotel. That being said, its increased an extra couple hundred bucks the past couple days.

I will play some Deep Stacks tournies @ the Venetian and am leaning towards staying there or the Palazzo.

Any recommendations on locking a room with a view? upgrades? The only points card I have is from Caesars when I played a circuit event.

Looking forward to not being hustled into a timeshare presentation this time around!

TLDR: is there anyone I can seek out and pay a few bucks to get me the past possible pricing? any tips etc?

Disregard my previous rant and ramble.. mobile will do that to you.

Flights are booked.

Where should I stay that is a slight step up from the LINQ? I actually quite liked the LINQ but my gf isn't having it, since I went there with my ex.

I'm thinking in the category of TI, PH, Mirage (?) etc. Trying to keep it ~200/night. View of the strip would be a plus.

Any of those places is fine if you don’t want to spend for the luxury category. I have a soft spot for PH but that’s just a personal choice.

You can either pay a couple more bucks at booking for a Strip view room or try to get upgraded at check-in.

Thanks Madlex.

I ended up booking directly through Caesars @ the Flamingo. I know a lot of people bash it, is it really that bad? I liked the location by the promenade etc.

For 5 nights, Friday - Weds, 1053 USD all in, I supposedly got a "newly renovated" room in "the tower" (from what I read theres several towers?), with a 'view', called a deluxe room.

I questioned the square footage and he said it's 600 which seems like quite a lot.. maybe he pulled that out of his ass.

Anyways, at least I have a figure I can throw around to other properties now. Glad I didn't book through a 3rd party.

Did the gf not want the LINQ just cause you went with the ex? What are the cost differences between the hotels you listed?

I'm a big fan of the Flamingo but if you're looking to impress the gf it probably won't happen

I haven’t been to any of the remodeled rooms at Flamingo but just based on other people’s postings, I would think that upgraded them from “total dump” to “still below Linq level”?

Sometimes I find good deals for Vegas through Costco travel....I looked at your dates and you can get the Venetian/Palazzo for 1795 Cad total....includes 125 gift card and a 15US mini bar credit per night. if you added your flights I'm sure the deal gets better. Resort fees not included but the card and mini bar credit is basically a wash. So basically you are looking at a 400 Cad difference between the Flamingo and Palazzo.

Pro Tip: If you just gamble a ton in the pit, you never have to worry about the price of hotel rooms.

Flamingo is a fine option. You will love the location. Impress her by taking her to Delmonico's for lunch and sit at the bar.

I was strongly considering the Palazzo but the resort fees were the deciding factor.

I am @ 1300CAD for 5nights, taxes and resort fees included.

So Palazzo is nearly 1k more. Ideally I would like to stay there.

We'll see.

I don't like the fact that my points would expire after 6months. Outside of the tournies I splashed at some BJ.. is there any way to keep points/hotel offers for.. 12+ mos?

We would get along fine. Love that place.

My point though is don't get a suite at the Wynn on the 1st trip with the new gf. Otherwise she will be disappointed in the room if you downgrade in the future. Hell, just book Flamingo next time and tell her it's tradition. Spend your money on having fun!

Think you can still get the Total Rewards CC and not lose points. Don't know if they offer it where you live.

One more question (for now). My last trip to Vegas the gf and I did a day trip to the Grand Canyon. Being from small towns in the East Coast of Canada these types of trips excite us.

That said, we poorly planned it, possibly hit the wrong rim and spent all day driving back and forth.

This time around, we want to do a day trip to Santa Monica or the like. Flights are dirt cheap.. is this something people do?

I feel the Flamingo rooms are much better than the Linq myself. The beds definitely are.

Mookie, generally people don't do that, and I would instead suggest a separate trip to the general Los Angeles area. But if it's something you want to do, and you won't be back to the Nevada/California region for a long time, then it's doable.

The Santa Monica Pier and beach and 3rd Street Promenade are all fun tourist things to do. Or Venice Beach Boardwalk, which is even closer to LAX.

Just remember to factor in rental car or Uber charges in with the flight costs. LA traffic is terrible, and it can take an hour to get to Santa Monica. Avoid rush hour travel times. 3:00-8:00 is bad, and 5:00-7:00 is terrible. If you're only doing 1 day, then maybe arrive in LA in the morning, and then take the last flight out (or 2nd to last flight, to account for airline problems). Or stay in LA for 1 night.

yea you need to factor in 4+ hours each way door to door travel time so not really a day trip kind of thing

Doubling down on what the others have said: LA is not a day-trip from Vegas. Even if you’re flying in, it’s an effort to get around anywhere and you’ll just be annoyed at the hassle if you’re trying to fly in and out the same day.

If you (god forbid) really want to visit the (omg no) Santa Monica promenade/pier area (I just threw up in my mouth), make it an overnight or two day trip, and don’t commit yourself solely to that one spot. Plenty of other things to do in the LA area.

Does anyone have experience renting one of those mobility scooters?

A new issue involving my left leg has just recently cropped up and I am thinking I might need one.

Mook's posts made me glad I am a high tier player through Caesars and MGM.

I am staying seven nights and Bally's would be $946 (resort fees waived) while Vdara would be $846 (with resort fees). Both are after taxes.

I think Flamingo was around the same price as Bally's.

Flamingo renovated rooms are fine, I like them better than the Linq and I've stayed at both properties twice in the last few years.

Flamingo only has two towers.

Based on the square footage quoted you're probably in a Mini Suite, which explains the high cost. If you booked a regular "renovated room" (they refer to them as Flamingo rooms) online using Caesar's website you probably would've paid about half that amount.

Two negatives about Flamingo- Casino is smokey and the food options suck, but as you said great location and the promenade is close by with half decent places to eat.

Have a great time, the casino has a great party vibe at night and the Go Pool is alot of fun if you're into that.
