Passing through town for one night twice in the next few weeks. Forecast looks pretty nice (coming from Canada so every forecast does) but will any pools be open? Staying at Bally’s and Cosmopolitan.

Also, best 2-5NL game on a mid-week night in the strip? Have played Aria, Bellagio, and Venetian in the past so figure I’ll check Bravo and see what’s up but happy to hear anyone’s thoughts.

Cosmopolitan pool is open year round and heated.

No ideal about Bally's but other hotels that have open pools in the winter are Bellagio, MGM, Palazzo and Encore.

That’s great, thanks. Bally’s we are really only there for the night so it doesn’t matter much but Cosmo we’ll have the day so a pool is nice.

Last night I booked it for 2 nights in January.

Used Hilton Reward points and only had to pay the resort fees which were $33 (gulp) per day. $66 for the trip.

The resort fee includes: internet access; fitness center access; valet/self parking; buy 1-get 1 free signature cocktail in Oakville Steakhouse 5PM-7PM daily; 2 for 1 at the Laugh Factory; 2 bottles of water per stay; local & toll-free calls.

Now the big question is will they give us a bag of warm chocolate chip cookies upon check-in like they do at all other Doubletrees?
Original post was from November.

Just returned from the 2 nights at the Tropicana. Saturday night the 27th - Monday the 29th.

The $20 trick had amazing results. We went from our standard room in the old tower, to a big suite on the 19th floor of the Club Tower with an amazing view of the strip.

Maybe it was due to a combination of both the $20 trick and that we are Hilton Honors members we got such a sweet room? Whatever it was, it was one of the best $20 trick upgrades I have done.

First time I have stayed there in 20+ years, and we will be back.

A separate check in line for Hilton Honors members was speedy, and despite other reports, we did in fact get a couple of the signature Doubletree cookies upon check-in.

Hotel seemed clean, and was less crazy than the bigger hotels. Bed was super comfortable, though the pillows sucked like they do at most Vegas hotels we have stayed in, with the lone exception of the Delano.

Robert Irvine's new restaurant was very good..and if you stay there you get a complimentary appetizer with each entree purchased. Food/Service was 4/5.

Now that it has been renovated, The Tropicana offers excellent value on the Strip..would recommend..

For terminal one, in the parking garage closest to the terminal. The app will tell you specifically where to go, and there are signs everywhere.

Caesars is the only one I ever heard that about, mostly because they had the lowest rake on the strip for awhile and no promotional drop. But others said they found the games there good, and I think the rake has now gone up. I played there just once in two very tight 1/2 games, but of course lol sample size and that was while there was also a free buffet promo going on.

The pool at the Linq is open - just a short walk north from Bally's.

Could totally be a coincidence but I was curious if Caesars was going to come up as I played two sessions there yesterday and they were both fairly tough crowds personality wise and just what seemed to be overly aggressive players.

First time in Vegas and read some stuff about dispensaries selling weed. If we do buy, it confuses me a bit where to smoke basically? We booked a non-smoking hotel room, with a balcony - is that OK? Can't really think of any other place to light up.

Pretty sure none of the hotels allow weed, and a non smoking room sounds like the worst possible place. The dispensaries are intended for use by residents who smoke at home.

Honestly your best bet as a tourist would probably be just walking around the streets with it. I've smelled it plenty of times on the strip and downtown on Fremont Street.

So, more rake is better? Maybe Daniel was onto something.

In-laws are visiting and want to see O -- any way I'm getting tickets for less than $150pp? $600++ for my wife and I to take them to a show just seems excessive.

This has an offer for 20% off. I don't know what face value is though.

https://www.bellagio.com/en/offers/o-special-offer.html

I also read somewhere that bigger discounts can be had with free membership to the Cirque Club, but I don't really know how that works.

I saw O ten years ago and tix in the lower section were $100 at the O box office. Looks like prices have almost doubled since then sorry don't think your going for less than $600 unless you sit in the nose bleeds or limited view sections.

I head someone talking about poker is pretty good during the CES - and was wondering what would be the rankings of events/dates in Vegas that would correspond to games being good for poker. I guess WSOP is #1....March Madness, Superbowl - anyone want to try to put together a top 10 list?

If you are looking to play 1/2 NL, I would argue that WSOP is not a good time. If you are looking to play high limit games that don't go at other times of the year, then yes WSOP #1.
