How tough will it be to cab back tho?

Yeah that's just a tough spot. Nothing nice within walking distance. Settle for planet dailies at PH or tequila bar and grill at ballys. Def not nice, but sit down with decent food. Grand lux if you don't mind a 15 min walk both ways

Since all casinos, including the C and the Aria, have 24H coffee shops, and there's a Denny's on the strip south of the C, I figured those are a given. As you probably know most casino "coffee shops" have quite expansive menus compared to coffee shops elsewhere.

I would put my flame suit on before again recommending the Cafe Bellagio on this forum.

PF Chang's at PH is open until 12A or 1A Fri-Sat.

Australian heading to Vegas for the first time tomorrrow.

Been looking through the hotel review thread, but haven't seen anything yet - basically I wanted to know; can you get rooms comped for playing at the tables? Or is this only if you're a high-roller dumping hundreds of thousands in the pit?

Also, anyone know a decent barber on the strip? I've been travelling the US for the past month and my beard/hair is out of control...

1. Yes, unless your room was prepaid through some travel site. If you play table games, you don't have to wager "hundreds of thousands" to receive casino complimentaries, although thousands would help. Obtain and always use your free players card, charge all hotel restaurant and room service meals to your room, and before you check out call "casino marketing" and ask them if they can take anything off your hotel bill. Write back and let us know your experience.

2. All major hotels have spas which have barber shops, although their prices are higher than barber shops away from the Strip.

Cash is good but at check in you'll have to present a credit card. I don't quite know the details but the hotel can put a hold on your card after so many days. I've paid with cash at checkout after 10 days and no problem. You might ask if any charges will go through after so many days ( I did ask this) and they only mentioned the hold, but there were no charges on the card upon return home.

you leave yourself with no chance of getting the resort fee waived, or any chance of having your room back end Comped

Other than that, nothing

You miss the ability to apply comps to your room total at checkout.

But I read that you have to be platinum to get that fee waived. Or can I become platinum just by staying there for ten nights and playing poker?

You do need to be Platinum or higher. But if you are, you wouldn't be able to waive it if you booked through a 3rd party.

You can pay cash at check out, just remember they will need a credit card for check-in for incidentals.

you can usually get by without putting a card down. some places will insist on at least a cash deposit. others just don't care either way.

If you already have a TR account you can apply for their Visa credit card. If approved for the card one of the perks is an upgrade to Platinum.

I don't get it; I've never checked into a hotel, Las Vegas or otherwise, without being asked for, or demanding a credit card . Perhaps you could use cash but to enter a hotel, in this day, without some security would be foolhardy for the hotel. This is bad advice for the questioner who might believe you and assume no need for security, up front; where is this hotel which allows you a room without security?

I think what he is saying is that some hotels will let you check in by placing a (large) security deposit instead of using a credit card, but you are correct it is becoming increasingly more difficult to find such hotels. I would check this out before arrival.

I think what horseforcourse was thinking was: At the end because I do so well at the tables I'll just be paying the room off in cash. Do I really have to upfront give a credit card? Or can I hide this trip from prying eyes by not giving a credit card? I know I'll ask 2+2. (Maybe he/she planning to visit LV without the knowledge of his spouse or boss. Or dosen't want the word "Casino" to show on their receipt. )

The answer is probably not. But at the end you can usually get a receipt showing that no charges were made on your card and nothing will be reported.

But perhaps horseforcourse is young and needs some avuncular advice:
Optimally you should get a credit card that has no annual fees and that gives you cash back in terms of points on purchases. You link this to your checking account so that it is automatically paid off. Thereby you have no late payment fees, and your credit score steadily improves or remains very good.
There is the off chance that horseforcourse does not have or can get a credit card in time for the trip and is exploring their possibilities. If this is the case there is almost certainly a hotel you can stay at by paying with cash advance. It will not be a very nice hotel.
