THE AFTERMATH

Made it home safe and sound. Very quick and comfortable flight back to Chicago apparently some sort of tail wind but we got in 40 minutes early. I got to the airport early and got in lots of steps there, airports are great for walking. Feels good to be sitting in my Lazyboy rather than a back breaking poker chair. Then again I really enjoyed my time playing this last week despite the bad beats

I wanted to give a quick review of Bally's. The room I had was big, clean and comfy but it would really piss off most people. The room I had was on a low floor facing Flamingo. This room was NOISY. Lots of traffic noise and I mean LOTS. I can sleep through anything though so it didn't really bother me but I know it would drive most people nuts. But the room was nice and newly renovated. But if you are planning a stay at Bally's request anything BUT resort tower facing Flamingo. I am guessing any other room facing won't have this issue. The hotel itself in in an outstanding location for the poker enthusiast since it has a room and is close to PH, Aria, Bellagio, Flamingo and Caesars. But MGM, Mirage, Harrahs, Venetian and even Wynn aren't that much of a trek. That said I probably won't stay there again since next time I go will be in pool season and I will stay someplace with a classier pool complex.

So that is the wrap for this TR. I had a great time and enjoyed sharing my experience with you all. I enjoy following TRs of others myself so this is my way of paying that forward. Thanks for following along!

Very enjoyable TR, even though you make the rest of us look bad with all of the steps. Kind of like the husband who is Mr. Fix It around his house and makes me look bad since I can't fix anything. When I am at the WSOP this summer I am pretty sure my steps will be limited to the following: Wake up. Walk to shower. Shower. Get dressed. Walk to elevator. Walk to valet for car. Drive to breakfast. Park. Walk to seat. Eat like pig. Pay. Walk to car. Drive to Rio. Park. Walk to seat for tournament. Don't move. Sit. Sit. Sit. Bust. Walk to car. Drive to get something to eat. Park. Walk to seat. Eat like glutton. Sit. Sit. Sit. Pay. Walk to car. Drive back to hotel. Walk to room. Sleep. I figure you have more steps in by 8 am than I'll achieve in an entire week.

Really enjoyed that. Some discipline getting the exercise in. I'll be there for some wsop late June so walking will be limited to indoors and will be nowhere near as extensive.

It’s easier if you are an east coaster - my first days in Vegas are usually wake
up times of like 4:30, 5, 5:30 or so and taking a walk around various casinos is always something I do as well. You can get 3-4 miles in before breakfast and yeah feel better about your day of food/drink.

I also try to walk during tourney breaks - I go up to the Rio casino to the restroom during the 15 min breaks. You have to wait so long in line in the convention area anyway.

What that view says to me is how long of a walk you will have from your room to get to the strip.

You do know that Grand Lux is owned by Cheesecake Factory, yes?

Yup. They both have CCF Cheesecake although Grand Lux only has few instead of the full compliment. That piece of Fudge Cake I posted is available at both. Both feature large portions of comfort food. GL is a great breakfast place where CCF isn't a breakfast place other than weekends I think?

Not really that far. The strip is to the left of that image.
