The sheer fact that there's no big criminal investigation tells you that things are still done very differently in Vegas.

Damn that sucks, I just got my 2018 Las Vegas Advisor coupon book, there's a $25 matchplay coupon in there, was planning on hitting that up on my next trip.

Don't know if it's true but i heard they are restructuring and reopening in about 6 months.

Probably more like that's what they're hoping for. From when they closed they said they were looking for a buyer.

this is why i sometimes think i'm smart, because i knew that place would fail before it opened. i kept wondering what it was while they were building it, and when i found out it was a casino, i was like, "WHAT?"

how do i know more than the people who put millions into this place. what an absolute abomination of a location. worse foot traffic than SLS.

I work in entertainment. In this industry (and probably most industries) it's pretty common for people who have plenty of experience to not be the sharpest knives in the drawer, and for those same people to glom on to whatever the next shiny thing is that gives them a big paycheck. So the talent-level of the execs running it might be overstated, and at the same time they might all know it's destined to fail but don't care all that much because they're getting paid very well, and they aren't employable at the same level/pay at any real company.

No, the EB-5 visa just buys a green card. Like other green card holders, they can apply for citizenship after 5 years though.

Maybe it was a scam to start with. Build a casino, skim lots of cash while doing it. For all we know it was over-subscribed, like they sold 130% of it, and they wanted it to fail.

I've talked to some that are still working there... it's a restructure and re open around summer.
And timing be Asian themed

.

Seems like folks that are getting a EB-5 green card also need to launder money.

I wonder if I can get a gig taking money from shady Chinese businessmen and dumping it on table games at there EB-5 casino.

You could also do it the “legal” way. Go to law school, start working at a firm that specializes in getting visas / green cards for rich people, make your way up to partner and start collecting mid 5-figures+ from each of your clients. Then you can dump lots of money on table games and still be rich..

I would consider the people who work there to be the least-informed as to future plans (ditto for casino employees pretty much anywhere). They will just regurgitate what the bosses are telling them. Not saying they won't reopen the casino, but I would put it as a serious longshot. What would they do differently that would all of a sudden change their fortunes?

Gotta pay your dues before you can legally abuse the system.

I agree. Why would they have a foreclosure auction if their plan was to reopen soonish?

Lucky Dragon goes to auction on Tuesday so it's hard to imagine anyone in charge there now really knows what's going to happen.

By "auction" do you mean they're selling off stuff like furniture and equipment?

The reason I ask is because a few years ago the Venetian decided to change all of the furniture in their rooms. My Uncle managed to buy 100% of the furniture of 150 rooms with the purpose of turning around to sell them, which he successfully did. But he kept one room's worth of furniture for himself and now his condo still looks like the old Venetian. LOL He's in a foreign country but he might be interested in a short Vegas trip. I'll ask him to give me an entire Lucky Dragon suite as a finder's fee.
