Hello All,
Been in Vegas little over 24 hrs and got my hot spot on my phone working so I can type on my laptop. Too old to learn how to type effectively on the damn phone.
Anyway, a little about the trip in. The reason we were on a 10:20pm flight into Vegas was American Airlines. Oh how I love them so. About a year ago, I decided to start accumulating AA points for free flights. Got the CC, signed up for other misc. crap to earn points. I finally got enough for two free flights.
So.... Originally we wanted to leave on Sunday and come back Wednesday. No dice. Sunday blacked out unless I wanted to spend another 10,000 points. Checked Saturday and the only flight available was the red eye. Ok no problem. Checked Wednesday for return flight. Blacked out. Checked Thursday and got a 3:00pm departure, so I booked those flights. No biggie. They are free right? WRONG!
Must be the last person on the planet to learn that AA charges $75 per ticket surcharge to redeem free flights plus $10 security fee. Throw in $25 a bag each way for 2 bags, and our free flights to Vegas add up to $260. Just pisses me off how airlines find new and exciting ways to nickel and dime people.
When we get to the airport, we are leaving out of gate A9. Do curbside check in and head for security. Um closed. Sequestration or just to damn late at night? Find out we need to catch a shuttle to Terminal D and go thru security there. OK. Did that. Now catch the tram back to Terminal A. Piece of cake. Only time for 1 Beer before boarding.
Fairly uneventful flight until we get to Vegas and land in a thunderstorm about 11:10pm local time. A mere 10 minutes late. Only problem is, all of the ground crews have be ordered to stay indoors until the lightning passes, so we sit on the tarmac for about 45 minutes before finally getting to the gate.
Hey it was storming, I know Vegas can use all of the rain it can get. Evidently, our plane was last in line for luggage to be unloaded once the ground crews got back at it. At this point, I am beginning to wonder if we are ever going to make it to the Casino. About an hour later, our bags finally arrive and we head for the cab line.
And we see this????
Hey, where did everybody go. Did the zombie apocalypse hit? No, just half of the cab line shut down since we are pushing 1:00am at this point. Find the other half that is open and about 15 minutes later we are finally in a cab headed for Flamingo.
I say nothing to the cab driver except Flamingo please, expecting to get long hauled the way this trip had gone so far. But nope, $13.90 later, we pull in around 1:30am. Flipped the guy $25 to try and get back on the karma train.
Check in was a breeze and we finally get to the VP bar at Bugsy's a little before 2:00am. I will spare posting the VP pics here again since most people are sick of seeing them already. Played for a couple of hours and then hit the sack. Nothing special about the room. Just a standard room with a comfy bed and a shower that is like standing in front of a fire hose.
Same morning we hit up Bugsy's for some VP and get the early morning drink on and the hit up Margaritaville for lunch.
Blackened fish tacos and conk fritters. Paige is starting to get annoyed with my picture taking.
Was going to order the 100 oz margarita for $65, but didn't have 10 friends to help me drink it.
The happy couple.
After lunch we checked out the Quad. A nice upgrade to the IP but decided against playing with Michael Jackson.
Decided to bounce over to Paris and Bally's. Only played VP, but hit 4OAK AA's with a deuce for $200.
Overall I am up about a $100 and Paige is down about $100. So not bad if you throw in about 20 Coors Lights and vodka tonics.
We decide it is Pai Gow time, but decide to play back at Flamingo, so we won't have as far to stumble to our room. We cross the street outside of Bally's so we won't have to the stupid sky bridge with no working escalators.
And Paige makes 2 new friends.
Paige is a teacher that works with special needs children. So after our photo op I quip "You sure like ******ed people a lot." She comes back with "why do you think I like hanging out with you."
Find a $10 Pai Gow table at Flamingo and get settled in.
Paige hits 4OAK A's for 25 to 1 with $5 on the bonus.
The table got short so I started playing 2 spots with $20 bet and $5 on the bonus to spread the variance a little bit. And made the table very happy.
Royal Flush Bitches!!!
Royal paid $750 on the bounus, plus everybody at the table got $50 for the envy bonus, including an extra $50 for me since I was playing 2 hands. $800 this way, thank you very much!
I had to drag, yes literally drag Paige away from the Pai Gow table around midnight. Thinking about renting a wheel chair for her. 2 drunk people trying to balance each other doesn't work very well.
We are off to Hoover Dam today. Hope everyone has enjoyed it so far. I know this probably doesn't sound all that fun to a lot of you ballers out there, but we are having a blast.
