The GOOD: kicked off the WSOPC series at Ballys today, I was comfortable, composed, and played strong. Had some circuit grinders at the table but always felt in control of the table and reads were on point.
The BAD: It was a rude welcome back as the statistical anomalies picked up where they left off...big setback early when I get 5T os in bb, unraised pot 2 limpers, I check. Flop T-5-7 2 clubs, I check call a large bet and its heads up. Turn is 5 filling me up, I check raise the really large on the other player. River is the J of clubs completing the flush, I lead out small to induce hoping he will fire large with much worse to rep the club flush, he obliges raising most of my remaining stack (pot is already huge at this point)...I should of course shove the rest in but for the sake of tournament survival I flat on the off chance he has miracle TT...nope hes got the JJ for the 2 outer and I'm the table shortstack.
I battle my way back to maintain around starting stack, first hand back from the break I pick up AdAs utg, I can see a player directly to my left licking his chops and there's also a player 2 to the left who's on tilt, so I elect to open jam expecting some action. Player on the left with more chips than me rejams and it's folded around. He flips KK I think it was KcKd...flop is a safe TsJs8h...turn is even more ideal it's the 3s, now hes drawing to ONE out b/c the Ks gives me the nut four card flush...sweet...oh wait, Kh on the river and I'm hitting the showers. Back in action tomorrow for another bullet at the 250k gtd.
I'm still super positive and optimistic about being back at the tournaments, if anything it was a reminder that when I'm playing sharp/dialed in, these are the sort of things it takes to knock me out of these.
