Also curious if you've ever been to Mt. Charleston and is it worth renting some Harley's and taking a nice drive out there?
the weather is really nice up there and it's pretty scenic, I could see a motorcycle ride being fun

8-16 omaha8 @ Orleans +$135, good b/c dropped -$75 @1-3 nl...I really like the deeper stack ($500) at the Orleans and always feel I'm on the verge of some monster nights there...I have some of the regs figured out and really just need the bare minimum on luck/cards to just crush some big numbers I think...I may try putting in some endurancy kind of sessions (8-12 hours) there after I knock these Ballys promo hours out.

Put a stage 2 AFE cold air intake on the Bimmer...gonna see if the Dinan stage 2 software upgrade will mesh with it or if it's exclusively tuned for the Dinan...either way +some HP for me and will be super efficient helping the 8 deal with this desert heat.

AFE Stage 2

...sorry not much car porn lately, just not seeing much pic worthy around and I have been lurking around the Orleans mostly...

I need to stop paying all this West Hollywood rent (wow the memes you could make with that...) and move to Vegas, put the savings on rent into a BMW and a Rolex.

Seriously, I may need to get a job for CardPlayer or ESPN Las Vegas or something and change gears. Sick car, once again, bro.

Oops...been forgetting to post August goals; As I said short and to the point then back to entertainment...

Poker Goals:
1.) play 125 hours (more like 150 would be ideal but with my low productivity lately I think 125 is a good baseline)
2.) read one poker book per week
3.) post one hand of interest/problem hand in LLSNL forum for review per full session (i wont be going into detail in this thread but will post links to the llsnl threads for anyone interested in helping or just reading)
4.) average one small mtt/week (trying to get my feet wet again in tournaments before considering some larger scale plans)

Non-Poker Goals:
1.) try at least 2 new restaurants and review for thread (I get so locked into my favorites/routines I don't explore enough sometimes)
2.) get to the mountains or lake once/week
3.) work on cardio (just the word cardio tilts me)

Also final decisions for the August photo challenge; as suggested but slightly amended:
1.) Chip porn pic of 600bb stack (I had to scale this one back from the 1000bb suggestion just b/c 1000bb seems overly ambitious given my tight table/pot control style and tendency to pass up some small edges; If I find myself in a situation to go for 1000bb I obviously will attempt it.)
2.) Photo review of a higher end large scale tasting menu paid for by a poker session (I liked this suggestion but in all honestly it's likely going to be somewhere elsewhere then Joel Rubuchon; I'm not a big fan of French food so I just feel the rather exuberant price would be wasted on me...I'm looking into some other options.)
3.) Street performer pics with 3 different Elvises (this could be difficult with Elvis' waning popularity), 3 different Alans (from Hangover, should be simple), and 3 different Star Wars characters (no idea if this will be easy/hard to find)

i figured you were too in shape for french food, but a tasting menu of any kind with poker profit would still be awesome.

Don't people generally tip those smelly Alan/Elvis annoyances? I sure hope you're not going to. I hope those people go away for ever

How about you stack someone (obv not a fish but maybe an a**hole type loud mouthed guy who is obv bad for poker) and take a pic of you rubbing money on titties? (In before gayyyy)

But in all seriousness, this is a cool thread and I'm looking forward to more chip stack pics and cool restaurants in vegas. Keep it up!

I spent a week in Vegas in February mostly playing Aria and Venetian dailies.

I did not notice a significant difference in standard or numbers between the times - possibly the earlier tournaments were slightly bigger, but not much. At that time, both were around the 110 entries - maybe 80 players, with re-entry.

I much preferred the Aria over the Venetian - it feels like a newer, fresher version. I think the Venetian gave slightly more chips, but the Aria had an extra level at the start, so the Aria structure felt slightly deeper.

Good luck, and please keep the thread going!

Speaking of the PLO, it plays so big from what I've seen that I've decided I'll have to play some limit omh/omh8 games first for any live practical application...obviously I realize it's a different thing altogether but should still assist me learning to range faster and working on outs calculation ect w/the different format/4 card combos.

Also I feel like I haven't been engaging in my usual gastro-exploits these past weeks and so will make an effort to get in a good detailed review of a Vegas food establishment in the coming week.

Went to the Orleans last night to play some Omaha...sat in with the intention of playing a few hours at the limit 4-8 Omaha Hi-Low game then heading to Ballys but I was having so much fun playing I ended up staying over 5.5 hours. The players were just realllly bad in general and had little to no concept of how to play correctly. I won a number of big pots freerolling double draws ect. Biggest one I think was a nut low draw w/nut flush draw flop pushed around multiple callers, low hit on turn and was capping with these 2 other guys...flush hits river more capping...they both show second nut low, one with TP one with small flush and I scoop it all. Ended up leaving up +$250 which was pretty funny, it being the best 'win' in the last week and a halfish and from a 4-8 limit game.

GF; currently on diet b/c too fat ...not pleasant when she don't get her cookies...

Great thread, keep up the great work!

The 4-8 Omaha hi/lo @ Orleans game actually gets pretty incredible late night, esp when the jackpot creeps up pretty high. People play ungodly horrific and pots can get huge. I shipped a $1k pot there in June, troof! It is one of my favorite places/games to grind when I'm cash gaming in Vegas!

This story/endeavor is not possible without a good woman at your side imo, so kudos to her for the support she no doubt gives to this lifestyle! I know this first hand...and looking to move to Vegas within the next 18 months with a great one on my side as well. And ya, there is nothing wrong with her weight obv! Womenz gonna women tho! lol
Thanks for sharing your story. Best of continued luck with it all!

thx. and yeah your probably correct. aside from my living expenses being significantly marginalized, I know I would probably have the propensity to just degen ungodly long sessions, forget to socialize/exercise/and generally 'live' and therefore be particularly prone to burn out badly...not saying I wouldn't be financially successful all the same, but my health and quality of life would suffer and this would obviously at some point impact my ability to play well and especially to progress forward.

I'm not trying to piss on anyone - I'm happy for most couples.

But there's a flip side to everything, and divorce was the best thing to ever happen to me. It freed me up to do so much more and I've taken leaps and bounds since then. I've done things in my life and career that would have been impossible with a woman. I have more funds, a nicer car and have had more ridiculous sex since my divorce.

Best piece of advice that no one gave me, that I would pass on: NEVER be a woman's first husband. That's always the sucker in every sense of the word. Always be her second or even third husband. That's right around when they start to "get it" and are ready for marriage.

Finally, in Palm Springs I was a member at a high end country club, if you're a golfer, you would know it. Ridiculous HNW couples there. My observations were that most couple were (1) in traditional, male-led relationships and (2) almost all of them were on their second or third marriage. Very few of us will succeed in our first time out.

^yes well by no means think I am suggesting/endorsing that people require a relationship...most of my friends/family in relationships are miserable and a lot of people I have witnessed first hand being held back/restricted by relationships. I would classify mine as pretty atypical though and so I think it helps bring balance to things for me.

Relationships aside, I would state firmly though that anyone wanting to get deeply involved in poker set up either(or both) a strong support network of some kind or reliable ways to vent/de-stress...it can be a brutal game lol

Wow that's some pretty negative views on marriage. I am my wife's first husband and she is my first wife. And of course we'd like to think that is it, till death do us part. I think most couples honestly lack the true foundations of a relationship and get married on a whim.

We are 100% honest with each other about all facets of life and probably most important, and I dont think that most couples think about this, is that people do and always will change. You have to know the person you met 10 or 15 years ago is not going to be the same person today. So the key is to try to change together and always be up front with the other person.

I told my wife on our very first date(what am I saying, it wasnt a date, we just bumped uglies) that I was nothing like your average guy. I always wanted to be happy in life and pursue my dreams. That I would rather make $10K a year doing something I love than make $100K a year doing something I hate. At the time I was trying to be a professional pool player, but now I make my living on another felted table.

None of that would have been possible if it weren't for her. She has allowed me to follow my dreams and without her support I would have been unable to do so. Now I have been playing live cash games for 4 years and it's been the best. And I owe it all to her. I honestly couldn't have done it without her. So there are still some good ones out there. I was making around $40K a year hating being a salesman when she basically said "baby quit your job and pursue your dream, play poker for a living". I quit the next day and never looked back. Now I average around $40/hr playing live cash and have no boss. I made a nice score the first year and we basically now live in the house that poker bought.

I didnt mean to write a book. I guess I am just saying that OP is right, a good support system is always super important. And the right woman can make all the difference, even if it is your first time around the marriage wheel.

Felt 'off' today and I usually don't play on Thursdays anyhow, so when I heard the degen summit at Lemongrass was off I nearly got lazy and didn't play. I decided I needed to at least go up the road to GVR and put in a few hours though since I skipped Wednesday. Basic locals game, was able to control the table pretty easily...missed thin value in a few places but made up for it with some pretty legit laydowns for min losses. I did record a hand I'm curious about that I will write up and link to this thread tomorrow.

In one hand a guy who is a decent player but suffers getting bored and also FPS'ing himself was going to head out so after I had limped 2 UTG w/AKos he open jams in $88 all in...folded around to me w/$290 behind, like $6 in the pot lol...I tanked and I think some of the guys thought it was a bit slow-rollish but the truth was in a game I feel I dominate so easily I want better than flips and small edges...I'm pretty sure I'm making the call but I do need to construct if he has enough paint and weaker aces in his range to give me a nice big edge...I mean if he is only donking pairs here I'm not really feeling getting in as likely a 5% dog for this dry six bucks and no implied...like I said I just don't require these spots so it's worth thinking out anyways, yeah I am a nit. I decide since hes been bleeding off chips hes sticking it in with most ace paint and possibly even some bigger suited connectors so end up calling, he shows KQs and doesn't get there. Anyhow if your reading this, I don't slowroll...just like to analyze any significant decision.

So I bought in for $200 b/c thought I had more on me and didn't want to pay ATM fee unless I dropped sub $150...played 2.5 hours on the dot, out for $464. I took a crappy chip porn pic...more like softcore chip porn just because I haven't really been posting any recently. It's slightly less pathetic though since in for only 2 bills. Felt pretty good about my play, making some big read laydowns and 2 correct bluff catches.

It was just short of the midnight start of the late night special so figured I'd just run by the Fiesta on the way out to Lake Las Vegas which runs the same exact specials...bad decision. Despite countless empty tables, waitress/hostess gives me a stupid buzzer saying they are really busy...ok whatever I sit down and wait. While I'm waiting 3 other parties w/out the buzzers walk up and get seated by other waitresses. I generally view myself as one of the most emotionally composed people I know...possibly from playing this game so long, but I missed the gym today which can get me on edge and this kind of service just pisses me off. Ultimately the buzzer may or may not have been victim to this chicks incompetence. I went ahead and gtfo; more fast food #$%#^.

I'm running behind where I thought I would be at this point for the Ballys promo hours so I will be grinding it out there tomorrow (fri), sat, and sun night. May come down to crunching some endurance sessions if I cut it too short.

Chip-tease (doesnt really qualify as pron) In for $200 out for $464 @2.5 hrs
