If you happen to be in the Bay area, Bay 101 has 8/16 O8 on weekdays.

Great update Whey.
What were the cash games like at the Rio? Any interesting hands from the cash games post ME?

I'm heading to Vegas in early September. Be good to say hi and play a few hands..
Thx, ya I'll likely be here grinding cash most of September. The 2-5 games were pretty good still at Rio, come to think of it there was a really wild hand that a self proclaimed 'high stakes limit poker' player played absolutely horrible to take a big pot off me on a river, I'll post it later.

I think she's be a fun sparring partner . Orleans also has 8-16 usually running. I've wanted to play the 15-30 the Venetian gets going sometimes but I've always been bust when it goes up.

Been enjoying a little slack time, out for a relaxing spurt of limit O8 tonight while I watch Netflix and eat a cheeseburger. Strict diet and 5-6 gym days a week comes back on Monday so I can get back in top form. I had planned on being disciplined this summer which I feel would have been a positive thing but I was not prepared for the stress, anxiety, and even excitement of such big tournaments in such a busy schedule. I feel like I learned a lot of things though and should be dialed in coming into next summer. I think I may make a big post to that end but more likely leading into next summer to help anyone just getting into that scene.

Hard to say, as far as good cash games you can always try to correlate your trip with the the bigger attendance events in the conference and trade show calendar. Other than that there should be some fun action during the WSOPC stops (2 this year) and you can catch some mtts.

I gotta get back to Vegas soon. Love reading about the live AF games there- thanks again for sharing. Home games can be risky here in Austin...almost went that night but hey not getting shot = +ev

I haven't chimed in, in a while so just wanted to say that it has been great staying up to date with your tournament filled summer. I'll obviously keep following and I hope next year or the following year I'll be railing your thread to a 6 figure or 7 figure score.

Keep up the good fight!

I have a lot of respect for Ryan Laplante's game having played vs him many times now and I know he has a coaching site and/or lesson plans ect. You can also learn a surprisingly good amount for free sweating Jason Somerville's twitch streams.

Whey, enjoyable thread throughout and a great mix of poker related and LVL content.

Noticed you have an iPad for cash sessions, and wondered what your level of focus is on the current hand if you're not involved. Are you mainly paying attention and just play games during changes and shuffles, or what does that look like?

I was fortunate enough to have Ryan aka "protential" in my stable for a while back in 2013/2014 and got some very valuable MTT coaching from him. He goes deeper into the math side of the game which might seem burdensome and overrated for many, but is hugely important when you are trying to improve your overall late/end game as well as ICM considerations. Beyond that, his general grasp of both live and online is pretty sick. Highly recommend him.... He has a training site you can find pretty quickly with da googlez.

srry havent posted much lately, been a weird week or 2. Ive actually played less recently (5 short sessions) than all year. I attribute it partly to a little burn out post series and also to an annoying sinus/respiratory infection I had for awhile. I think it's like chicks with postpartum depression but it's caused by the severance of the big summer poker action and the hype surrounding it suddenly coming to a crashing halt and everything slowing way down. Not a huge deal because it happens every year but this year I was more immersed in the atmosphere of the summer action that things seem a little boring lately and it's hard to find motivation. That said I have a road trip coming up mid Aug to do my best to take down the Az State Poker Championship so I am super pumped for that.

***oops forgot, started playing League of Legends also so that's probably where countless hours have gone last few days

Gonna try any nearby WPT? There's Vegas, a couple in L.A. I think, San Jose, and Thunder Valley north of Sacramento. WPT is also doing a California Swing, where points total from Commerce, Bay 101, and Thunder Valley gives extra prizes.

There are generally live satties and prelim events too. Bay 101 has only 1 prelim event but it always sells out and pays ~150k up top. WPT also gets really good tv exposure.

Legends of Poker prelims are running at the Bike right now leading up to a WPT championship event. Card Player has a series coming to Hollywood Park in like September I think and Commerce also has a WPT stop coming up soon.

Some things to fill the months before the WSOP Circuit event at Planet Hollywood

I'll be playing the WPT Deepstack in Reno towards the end of Aug, other than that no WPT plans but 2 or 3 HPTS, possibly the Gulf State, and as many WSOPC stops as I can manage (likely 4-5) then a few local things like some VDS/Wynn and maybe one of those Commerce series. That's most of the mtt plans this year leading up to next summer. So ya will still be plenty of mtt action to keep me moving forward and motivated on that front, still got work to do on my cash game plans and progression though.

Oh yea if you ever wondered to yourself if you were a mtt pro as well as cash well it's kinda for realsies now that you have a nice schedule of events

I have a long ways to go in both, while I need to focus a ton of time on my cash game progression, my passion for the mtts is too high right now not to put in an event/series or 2 a month, though my tournament 'schedule' will be fairly light this year leading into next summer I'll manage enough to stay sharp while putting in a lot of time off the tables working on mtt game and seeking some additional coaching for mtts. I feel like my mtt game is super unorthodox (by traditional and current playstyle standards) which allows me to be fairly competitive in far more experienced fields so I think if I can refine some things (enter the coaching) I can make some things happen.

Reconsider the WPT Shooting Star. They put at least 1 bounty at each table that's a name pro or celebrity. The bounty pays 1/3 of the tourney entry, so is definitely seriously in play. A large percentage of the field gets in via sattie, so a single bounty is a profitable cash for them. It's a re-entry, so most of the bounties play back hard at the fish. All this makes for lots of action. There's also a 10k bonus for being Day 1x chipleader. Plus, the Matt Savage structure is really good, including a change to 6 handed on day 3.

Consider the satellite schedule for shooting stars. Bay 101 satellites are by far the softest I've been in. In the two weeks leading up to the actual event there is one every single day.
