Well since last update been pretty weird. Playing a lot and fairly well with mixed results. I think I mentioned the sick beat I took with the 99 to the A2 on a 922 flop a few posts back, still managed to keep the damage to a buy in that night. Had a good session at Flamingo picking up +$350 or so before dusting off $100 playing 4-8 O8 badly at the V. Next night played a long few consecutive sessions at Bellagio the other night. I initially lost $900 on the 1-3 just running epic bad into three flopped sets...here's those 3 hands:
1: Had about $340 behind and I raise button to $15 with 24s over a few limpers get 2 calls, a loose passive middle eastern guy late 40s with $ to burn and a LAG Asian guy late 20s. Flop comes 2-3-5 w/ 2 clubs, checked to me I bet $35, V1 folds, V2 goes $90 leaving himself about $200 behind...I know he's thinking I c-bet my entire range so he can be surprisingly light here like small-mid pockets and possibly clubs...I make it $195 expecting him to fold his mid pairs range and to gii vs clubs but he shoves which I'm hating with my garbage hand to have escalated the situation such but it still seems like clubs. I call and bink a deuce on the turn but does no good when he shows 33.
2: This hand I had $200+ and raised AJ spades to $12 on button, bb calls, mp calls, lp short stack lady calls. Checked to me on a 5-5-4 flop one spade so I c-bet $35, bb folds...nice ...mp folds... cool ...shorty in LP shoves for $60 obvs I call she has pp44.
3: In this hand there are a few limpers and the Asian lag from hand 1 makes it $12 in LP, I decide to flat with Jd7d on the button and 2 more players flat including the loose middle eastern guy from hand 1. On the flop of 7-4-J 2 hearts it gets checked to original raiser who makes it $35, I raise to $115, older middle eastern guy tanks while before flatting and Asian lag quickly mucks. Turn is a black 10, V checks and at this point sizing is pretty awkward with me having about $120 left and he covers...pretty confident he never had 8-9/J-10 here so 10 changes nothing and I shove...he snaps with pp44.
After dumping $900 I decided to play 2-5 (yeah this sounds bad but it was not a case of going to chase my losses so much as I was only planning to play another few buy ins and decided I wanted to play 2-5). It was a pretty bad game full of regs many of which I knew and/or recognized...I missed value on at least one hand possibly 2 that I might type up later. One of the better regs I talk to sometimes was cool enough to discuss one of the hands away from the table later and I was pretty much in agreement with his assessment/suggestions. The 2-5 table got shorthanded which I preferred for a bit but when it broke I went back to 1-3, +$93 on the 2-5 2.5 hrs. Back at the 1-3 I got lucky on the same Asian lag player mentioned earlier when a bluff line I was taking turned into an actual value hand, picked up about $150. Then came this crazy hand that helped bail me out for the night:
I had about $420 behind and the Aussi V directly to my left (solid player here for series I believe) had about $700. He had seen me open and threebet light a few times that night at showdowns including recently. One caller on the button pre and I look down at KK in the small blind, I make it $12...V makes it $30 pretty quickly in the big blind, I tank a moment then flat, button folds. I check a KhQh8c flop and he makes it $45 I quickly slide out $100 and he instantly goes all in...super weird I feel like hes limited to KQ and trip Qs here since hes too good to play aces this badly...I fist pump snap and wait to see his QQ/KQ roll over drawing mostly dead BUT he flips Jh10h which is actually pretty terrifying vs my hand when I've been running badly. I can't help but smile and laugh a bit when the A smacks the turn, happy to say I really wasn't angry or upset in any way...the poker spirits must have sensed my good intent as the 4th K slammed the river for quads. Left afterwards down maybe $200 on the night.
I didn't want to play much today since I have the mtt Orleans Main tomorrow so just played a short 2.5 hour relaxing day session at GVR for +$250 then grabbed some Sushi.
gtg bed pretty much right after this post for the tournament tomorrow...bring on the sick run-good
Everyone has their morning rituals...this is mine though it happens more around 1 pm
